For my SP equipped 530i all I did was invest in a set of winter wheels and tires. The set was lower profile (16" vs. 17") and was far more tolerant of road surface irregularities compared to the low(er) profile SP tires. The winter set not only helped prevent me from destroying a tire and one of the beautiful 2-Piece Type 42 rims, but the wear and tear on the summer set was so reduced that I didn't need to buy new tires for way longer than I otherwise would have. Then there is the fact that winter tires offer far superior surface traction capabilities compared to the OEM rubber.

Best regards,
Shipo

Hi Brian,
I picked up a used 07 530i last month in San Diego. I love the car and was back at the dealership the other day to pick up a manual. The lease manager (a friend of mine) told me that the car I obtained in december 08 was now going for approx 10% more at wholesale. His reasoning was that the economy has taken pressure off the new car market and switched many people to the used car market, thus increasing relative demand....

Not sure if this is true, but it may partial explain your experience.

Good luck,
John

Hi john,

Well isn't that just great so the regular guy like me who is trying to get into a " Driving Mechine" will still be getting screwed.

That's the way it is, enjoy your car I'm happy for you, as you smile every time you get behind the wheel !

Cheers,
Brian

Sport seats vs. multicontour seats by 3233

Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a 2005-2007 5 Series. 530i is my preference,as the 525/8 is underpowered and 545/50 slurps gas and costs too much. I'm looking to keep the price to the low 30's and under, which should be no problem after looking at Autotrader.

Earlier today I saw a 528i at a dealership that was equipped with the Sport Package. The seat was comfortable and supportive, more so than the standard one. I was most excited about the seat cushion extender though- I'm 6'2" and the longer cushion really made the seat more comfortable. I also saw (on bmwusa.com) a standalone option called Multicontour Seats. It sounded similar to the Sport seats, but I wasn't able to sit in a car equipped with multicontour seats so I couldn't compare them.

My main questions are, what is the difference between Sport and Multicontour Seats? Which is more comfortable? Which would be cheaper and/or easier to find in a used 5?

Thanks for your time!

Looking to Buy a 2007 530i CPO by ptchow

How much should I offer for a 2007 530i CPO that has NAV, comfort access, parking control, prem pkg, and cold weather pkg - with 40k miles? The dealer is asking for $33k.

Is the used car market really strong? i can't believe too many people are buying cars right now - new or used.

Hi, I purchased a 2006 530 CPO with 39000 miles, late Nov. for 29,200 - it has Prem./Sport/and is pretty well perfect. I took advantage of the first two months payments being made by BMW, then .09 financing, but paid off afterwards so the net cost was 27,400. I think that was pretty decent....most dealers I have noticed you just have to tell them what you will pay, tell them to call you if that works for them down the road, and be ready to walk. It all depends upon how important the sale is to them at that time. There are a lot of them coming off lease now....will always find the one you want so it can pay to be firm. Hope that helps!

is $29,200 out the door or before fees and taxes? thanks for the information. it is very helpful to see what others are paying for a similar car. Thank you for your advice.

Yes the used car market is going strong , read article below

http://www.newsweek.com/id/185461?GT1=43002

I believe you can get the price down by a maximum of 2000.

I purchased a 07 530 with 16 k miles 2 months ago for around 30K

The car has Prem Pkg , Steptronic , and satelite radio

I recently talked to my salesman and he said the prices have gone up since I purchased and the CPO cars have been flying off the lots

Hi, yes the 29,200 was before tax and lic. but the two pay. by BMW took the net down to 27,400 before tax and lic.. That was a temp. deal and made it really attractive (wish they would have kept that one!) There are a lot out there right now as they come off leases...good luck, I am sure you will find the right one!!
