I owned a 2003 1500HD Crew cab. Never had any problems with it apart from the normal use. It was a dream to drive. That was a real solid truck. I don't know what I was thinking one morning but decided to get a new one. Thinking if this one is such a wonderful truck(the milieage was getting up there),the high quality should carry over "for sure" into the new ones. That was the worst mistake I have ever done regarding vehicle purchasing.
Sierra Z71 2010.
Approx KMs -- 35k
lagging - press on the gas to move, and it takes a few seconds for something to engage to get the truck moving. It's like your spinning in butter and nothing is happening. Then suddenly, your head is pushed back because the powertrain suddenly kick into gear. Very impressive don't you think. "Hey passengers - your in for a rought ride in this all leather piece of crap". Please sign here as I am not liable for any neck injuries you may incure during this trip.
slowing down - forced forward - almost hit another vehicle while I am trying to push the brake through the floor on decellaration to stop. good thing it was not one of my kids driving.
Clunking - Nice one. "what was that noise" Oh don't worry honey. Nothing fell out of the truck just yet"
driving feels like a standard - I should of bought the truck with a standard trans. The truck feels like I am driving one
But HEY. Once I am on the highway and got the cruise control on, WOOOOHOOOO. Now I can ponder as to how I can get rid of this piece of crap.
- I am sure the resale value of this truck will sky rocket through the roof when someone else sees it. I just won't let them test drive it.
Now tell me something. If you got a vehicle that is unpredictable, would you lend this to your kids? To anyone else for that matters
Here is a VALID EXPERIENCE THAT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE
Oh lord! I am in a pickle when someone is going to rear end me and I have to press on the gas to get out of there way before I get hit! OMFL. I better calculate a few seconds more into my reaction time because I have NO CLUE IF MY TRUCK WILL MOVE IMMEDIATELY WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS OR WAIT A FEW SECONDS BEFORE I AM JERK IN MY SEAT BECAUSE IT SUDDENLY WANTS TO MOVE FORWARD A FEW SECONDS AFTER.
I HAVE TO SUDDENLY STOP BECAUSE A MOOSE CROSSED THE ROAD AND I AM BATTLING AGAINST THE TRUCK TO STOP BECAUSE IT'S DOWNSHIFTING AND WORKING AGAINST ME TO STOP WHILE I AM SHOVING MY FOOT AGAINST THE BRAKE PEDAL THAT IS NOW TOUCHING THE MOTOR.
Stopping and moving forward in drastic situation that are caused by other drivers is by far, key functions which will determine if your in an accident or not. A few seconds to wait until your F$#% truck moves or stops will make it or brake it in emergency situations.
I am a diffensive driver. I am always, ALWAYS looking around. Too many times, I prevented accidents where some other stupid driver was not paying attention to what they were doing. When your driving a solid vehicle like my previous 2003 1500 HD crew cab that I knew how it handled and it was predictable, it adds to the driving confidance, plus no stress.
Now I am driving an unpredictable piece of crap. Each time I hop into my truck, I just think. "Now what!" What kind of mind bottling experience will I have on my trip to somewhere" Oh goodie! what will my truck show me today, which has not shown me before. Oh my god! I may experience something new today.
Now you tell me! Am I a statisfied GM owner? Own up to the powertrain issues GM and fix them.
GMC = GIVE ME CASH
I can't wait to see what the shop supervisor will tell me. The unfortunate part is, I am 95% sure I know what his response will be. It won't be a good one.

Got my truck back from the shop. GM just lost a loyal customer.

I hear you peteput, its loyal customers like you that GM will miss the most and this is same on GM.
my 2011 Silverado purchase was my first GM truck, and it will be my last.
I have never experienced such disrespect and bad customer service like I have from GM, although my new dealership's service department is top notch they can't fix what GM will not acknowledge is broken.
I had my yolk replaced and it helped and I thought my truck was fixed, then after a couple weeks the hard shift / clunk has returned.
another unsatisfied GM customer.

SO how long did the supervisor drive it? What exactly did he say? What can not drive the truck and not know the power train is clunky.
However, what bothers me is there seems to be a "disconnect" between some owners and GM.
Is the problem not as severe as the owners are stating? Or, is GM refusing to acknowledge their powertrain isn't that smooth?
I suppose it's somewhere in between?

what i wrote on my post was what was clearly stated to the supervisor. he drove it over 90kms. some city and more hwy driving. i have been with them for 10 years. they have the greatest service and they know me very well. this was my fourth attempt, and last in voicing my issues with them. when i am told that they have received many complaints about this issue, and allot of truck owners are not happy, that confirms allot. the problem with an inconsistent problem that comes up on many occassions is its based on driving style. here lies the issue. i drove a 1500 hd crew cab for 7 years and never did i have these issues with the powertrain at the time. my driving style did not change from one truck to the other. now you tell me where the disconnect is! but from this honest owner, its a piece of crap i have to live with. BTW. the sup complimented me on how great the powertrain was. said he would change nothing on this truck. now what would you do as a gmc company owner and find out that you have a big under engineered product that people are complaining about and know that deep down inside, if you fix one. you got to fix them all? how much would that cost a company that got bailed out not too long ago. you make the call on that one but in the end, i will be riding this gmc truck for many years to come. but it will be my last one unless they go back to a powertrain that should work properly. cheers

I am new to this website and I have been reading allot of these posts. What I am seeing is allot of repetitiveness.(I am to blame to). We login, we post, we grumble about our issues and we dispute. Allot of posts are great because we can associate our problems with others. like my issues with my powertrain, hell, now I see allot of people on this forum are having the same issues. We then attempt to get this fix by GM service by bringing in our truck and hope that the problem arises when they road test it. Well we all know where that goes. and I am FOR SURE, is one example of this.
But what do you think boys if we step it up a notch or two. Use technology to our advantage. Do any of you own a GOPRO. (if not, look it up) Well, turns out my son owns one (bought him one for xmas last year). HD recording at high speeds. Even NASCAR uses these to capture videos plus SOUNDS. You see them more and more on racing cars. More to come on this one but I will leave the rest to your imagination.
Cheers boys! Long live GM

We're a year and a half down the road. New serpentine belt did the trick back in 2010.
Quiet as can be.
