Replying to: floridabob1 (Jun 10, 2007 6:55 am) I was at the Glendora CA dealership a short time ago, and they located the exact car we are looking for. There's only the one vehicle equipped exactly the way we want anywhere in Southern California. The MSRP is $31,390. I told them we would be willing to pay something less than $27K plus tax and license. They said that if they had that particular vehicle in stock, that we would have a deal. They did offer me any vehicle that they did have in stock for the same savings, but I passed. My wife wants Powdered White Pearl and other extras we want include the Option 25 package, etc. So any vehicle that is not equipped exactly the way we want is out. You should be expecting a quote of somewhere in the mid $26K range plus tax and license depending on your choices of optional equipment, or shop elsewhere! The prices you have been quoted are right there now, and for you to expect to be able to pay less is not being realistic! Good luck and please keep us posted.

That my be further than you're will to go, so check the Hyundai site for dealers in a zip code you would be willing to go to to buy the car. Then check those dealers' websites for internet pricing. |

Replying to: derrelhgreen (Jun 10, 2007 7:33 am) It may not be realistic to expect to pay less out the door than the $29,050 email quote but it doesn't hurt to try. Once you offer a dealer $29,050 there's no place to go but up with that dealer. I recommend an initial offer of $3,000 less than you expect to pay just in case there are factory incentives to the dealer that have been kept a secret between the dealer and the factory. As for the "toss ins", unless you really want a portable GPS (the dealer retails it for around $600.00), probably shouldn't include that. The mud guards on the other hand will help reduce pebbles chipping your paint. If you want the mud guards, at least get them installed for free. As for being taken seriously by the sales staff. I wouldn't worry too much about that. The dealer's sales people may very well say "no way"; "that's an insult", "be serious"; "we'd loose money on that deal"; "how about an Azera GLS". Hold your ground and insist on a new Azera Limited with the Ultimate package and ask them how close they can come to your offer. If they quote you a price that's greater than your lowest email quote tell them that you already have a better offer from another dealer and unless they can beat it, you'll buy elsewhere. If they ask you what the other dealer's offer is tell them the price of the lowest email quote. Whatever you do avoid, any discussion about payments, make sure floor mats are included, and take the car on at least a half hour test drive over rough pavement as well as on an interstate or rural highway before taking delivery on the vehicle. One more thing, a dealer may quote you a great price on the car and then try and make up for it in the finance or business office by selling you vin window etching, scotch guard for the carpets, extra paint and under body protection, a third party extended warranty, credit life insurance, gap insurance, and financing at a high interest rate. Just say no to any of these "valued customer packages". |

Replying to: diet7up (Jun 09, 2007 9:02 pm) Let us be exact here. Exactly which options do you want/need? What color? Which Ultimate package, option 25 or? The one that is $3,100 or the other one that is less at $1550? What is the exact MSRP of the vehicles that those two dealers are giving you the $29,050 & $29,250 OTD price? Many here may or may not know that the license fees in Kaliforneia will add approximately 1.75 percent. When my wife sold cars, she always added a total of ten (10) percent to the agreed on price to arrive at an OTD price. Be sure to see the Fleet Manager. Call first to find out his or her name. Do not talk to anyone else at the dealership, especially that greeter who meets you at the curb and helps you out of your car. He or she is there only for a sales commission and if you bypass that person, that will save you dinero. The fleet manager knows exactly how much the dealership can and will sell the vehicle. There are two Ultimate options, the old one (#04) at $2550 and the new one (#25) with the same options and an upgraded surround sound stereo and tire pressure monitoring system at $3100 list. Most Hyundai salesmen that I heve spoken with over the phone are not even aware of this as they are strictly looking at the brochure. I agree with the poster that the only one to deal with if you can is the fleet or internet sales manager. Hope that this helps. Good luck!

After looking at many new and used Azeras, I have finally succumbed, although I shocked myself by opting for a used Pearl White 2006 Limited with grey leather and Premium Package. Strange as it may seem, I found the car listed on AutoTrader by a handicapped van dealer. They had taken the car in on trade from the previous owner, whose wife now has to use a wheelchair. They had no used car lot. The Azzie was parked in back of their building, calling out to me. It just kept getting better...10 months old with a clear CarFax and in mint condition, with a mere 3,582 miles on it. I called my local Hyundai dealer's service department, to make sure the warranty was transferable. The drone who answered said they would not honor the warranty on a used car purchased from a non-Hyundai dealer. Smelling a rat, I did what I should have done in the first place...called Hyundai Consumer Affairs and asked them. No problem, they said. Only change is the power train warranty goes from 10 to 6 years. Rest of the warranty is good to go. Offered the van dealer $19,500 and they accepted. WAHOOO! Am I a happy camper!
