That figure beats my best deal in Southern California by six hundred dollars. I sent emails to almost all of the dealers within a 100 radius of Murrieta and my best reply was for $26,995. Thanks for the information. |

At Gillman Auto I used the internet to get a price on a Limited with Ultimate pack MSRP $30,720 for $28,599 about what Edmunds said is being paid in our area. When we went to pay they offered to knock $2400 off that price if I purchased the extended bumper to bumper warranty for $600 - a net reduction in price of $1800 plus reduced sales tax. We had to go with a balloon financing deal of 30 months which means you pay interest only and still have the full financed amount left to pay off at the end. I called my bank and they said this was a common promotion and to go for it - then come in in two weeks and pay it off as the dealer guy said there was no prepayment penalty. So we made one payment of $100 (due April 1) which reduces the good deal a little more. Will let you know how this works out as it is supposed to be a Hyundai and not a dealer promotion. I think this will work out for the good. The bad is the salesperson ignorance - a common Hyundai complaint on these threads. I sent the cutie sales persons a copy of a forum post where a guy tried to get the Limp Home code and called his dealer staff a bunch of idiots when they said the 07 did not have that feature. I said I wanted to give them a heads up so they could have that code for me when I came in. I am sure they did not even read my email as I still don't have the code - they had no idea what I was talking about. They sent the service guy to download the code but when we left he was still working on it. The plot thickens. The lady salesperson had to call over a guy salesperson to show us how all the gadgets worked and I guess gadgets are kind of a guy thing. I asked what the engine break in period and the recommended driving scenario was. She said she did not think there was a break in period. Well, I bought my last car in 01 so that made me old fashioned. I took it easy and varied the speed on the way home anyway but they told be to leave the car running while he demonstrated the gadgets. Took about 10 minutes. Break in is on page 1-3 (55 mph max for the first 1200 miles and max 3 minute idle) and Limp Home is on page 1-6 of the owners manual which they obviously had never opened. I scanned the pages and emailed them last night. I requested they email me the key sequence for Limp Home. Since they are all I have - I will have to do business with them or go to the known crooked dealer in San Antonio - I suggested they were simply lazy and disinterested in their customers. The service guy was very nice and actually called me this morning with the information I needed while I was writing this post. He admitted this was the first he had heard of the Limp Home but assured me everyone would now know. I specify the 4 digit code and next time the car is in for service they will download it to the car. |
