| The dealer in Myrtle Beach did not offer any incentives.Told him of some of the sale prices I saw in the other chat sire on this board.He had advertise $2660.00 off on an Azera in the local paper,when I mentioned that he stated that was on one particular Azera,I then got up and started to walk out,told him no games.He went to thew manager,came back stating they would give me the advertised discount.Agreed to price,the went to sign agreement,there was $299.00 handling fee.I said no,he asked if I would split it,said no ,walked outside ready to leave.He came out and said"damn I'm giving you the car,but go ahead and take it".(yeah right).The car came out of the Columbia SC area,the was sat down with customer service for a half hour briefing on the car and the many "toys",which was nice. | |
Just got my Azera Limited with the Premium Upgrade Package. I have owned two Hyundais before and still have my 2002 Sonata which is going to go to our son in college. We were originally going to get another Sonata, but didn't like the body redesign and since the Azera was just a little more, we decided to check it out. After the test drive, we were convinced this was the car to get. I live near Austin and there are 4 local dealers. The availability of Azeras is very limited here; none of the dealers had more than two on the lot and none of them had the color and interior I wanted (steel gray and gray interior). We went online after our test drive to search for the best buy. We ended up going through Red McCombs Superior Hyundai in San Antonio. Their internet sales representative called the next business day which was Monday. I told him (and the other local dealers) that I wanted them to give me their best offer by close of business Monday night because I wanted to buy the car (cash) on Wednesday. This dealer gave me the best price of $27330 plus TT&L. The price included factory tinting & the wind deflector, which based on the reviews here may be removed  . The sticker on it was $29035 (freight and handling is $660), plus I got an additional 1K discount due to the Loyalty incentive Hyundai is running until the end of the month. He was professional and courteous and I told him I'd get back with him. The Sales Manager at one of the dealers that I test drove the car at, hemmed and hawed and said reluctantly that he'd match the price, but he had totally annoyed my husband and I with his arrogance when we were at the showroom, not to mention he'd have to get this car from the San Antonio dealership, who was the ONLY dealership with the exact car I wanted. The other local dealer that I had visited didn't even get back to me until the next afternoon stating I had to come in and negotiate numbers first.  No one else could come close to the price that Red McComb's offered. What totally cinched the deal for me? The salesman DELIVERED the car to my door, over 120 miles away!  That is service! He had even filled the gas tank before he left!  This was without a doubt the most pleasant car buying experience I've ever had. And as for the car itself? I'm in love! The ride is so smooth and there are little features that I didn't even realize the car had. I was shocked to see a cassette deck and since I'm in my 50's, I have plenty of cassettes that I've not yet replaced with CD's. The sound system is fantastic and the car is extremely comfortable and roomy. My husband has a 2000 Acura 3.2TL and this car has a lot more going for it. Not to mention that it was still several thousand dollars cheaper than what he paid for his 6 years ago! Bottom line, Hyundai is by far the best bang for the buck you'll get on any vehicle and their warranty can't be beat!

Replying to: parkavegirl (Mar 17, 2006 2:28 pm) My experience was pretty cool. Walked into Ken Dixon Hyundai of Waldorf, MD and they asked me if I was interested in buying a car. I said yes and that I didn't need to test drive or anything, I just wanted to know if they could beat the deal that Alexandria Hyundai of Alexandria, VA had given me. The sales manager proceeded to tell me that their prices would be $750 over Alexandria's because Alexandria was a volume dealer. I looked at him and said I didn't care about that, and asked again if he could give me a better deal. He had me fill out the application and then he asked for the keys to my 2002 Sonata GLS (105K miles) that I was trading in so they could appraise it's worth. They guy came back in and was surprised at how well the Sonata was running with only one concern...my brakes. The rotors needed to be replaced and the he could tell. I told him I had already bought them and that I could change them over the weekend. He said cool and wrote me an offer of $4300 on my trade. Alexandria's offer was $100 less. (by the way, I bought the Sonata from Alexandria Hyundai) Anyway, the sales manager comes back in with the sale offer sheet with the price written down on the Azera I wanted...$26,098. MSRP was $28,995 (including destination charge). Tax, tags and title took it back up to $28,447 and with my $5300 ($4300/trade + $1000/Hyundai loyalty rebate) I walked out the door paying $24,147. After that, the only thing I had to do was wait for them to go to another dealer to get the specific car I wanted as they didn't have it in stock at the time. So, two days after making the deal, they located one in Rockville, MD and they delivered it to me with just under 50 miles on it. I had to argue with the finance person about the Hyundai Loyalty Coupon. You see, they get updates faxed to them concerning rebates and incentives and the $1000 back for the Azera wasn't listed. I told him that according to Hyundai's web site, it was. At first he wasn't trying to budge and I stopped signing paperwork until it was cleared up. He contacted his finance manager who came over and I told them to look it up online. They did and the website clearly stated that the Loyalty Coupon was for $1000 and valid from 2/1/06 to 2/28/06. Well...I was sitting in that office on 2/28/06 and I wanted my $1000. The finance manager left out and was gone for about 15 mins and the phone rings. The finance guy picks up, shakes his head and says uh-huh a couple times and then hangs up, "Looks like we can give it to you Mr. Washington." My reply was, "Of course or Hyundai would have had a false advertising suit on their hands." The finance manager shows back up with a piece of paper that gave us the extra $1000 back and everything was cool again. |

I drove the Azera today, and it is very comfortable. I sat in a Azera with leather seats. The seats are wider and softer. And the head rest fit my neck/head. But the price is out. Our sales rep showed us one with the suede/cloth seats. Very comfortable. So I drove it. A very nice ride. Beautiful car. The Consumer Reports magazine that I had in our truck didn't have a review on the Azera. They let me read copies of favorable articles from several car magazines. I couldn't agree to their price without doing research. They didn't take my counter offer (which was pretty insulting). I was planning on reading about the Azera, talking to you all, finding out the right price, crunching numbers, checking my budget and calling them in the morning to find one in Pearl White for me. But now I am reading that it has a terrible safety rating. Now what do I do? S

Replying to: suzannafl (Mar 27, 2006 4:18 am) ). Anyway, it's totally up to you. I would recommend this car to anyone but there are a lot areas you'd have to evaulate based on your own perferences and needs. Not sure if I've helped but I tried

Replying to: suzannafl (Mar 27, 2006 4:18 am) Not terrible, just not excellent. It received a 4 star rating which by itself doesn't mean much of anything. There are still the IIHS tests to undergo and a full review of the NHTSA tests to determine why the Azera didn't get the 5 star rating Hyundai expected. With all its' other safety features, I would still consider it a relatively safe car. But to each their own...

Replying to: suzannafl (Mar 27, 2006 4:18 am) I am in the process of buying a new limited with the ultimate package. I also like the white color with black and green as the 2nd and 3rd options. While checking with several dealers I had noticed the following. I live in an area where the dealers do not have a big inventory of Azeras. As a result they are asking MSRP prices and they even have a waiting list. Thanks to this forum and the magic of the internet tools I had contacted other dealers that are up to 200 miles from where I live to get quotes from them. The good thing is that I found dealers with inventory and as a result they quoted much better prices. As of today the highest quote that I have is for $30,100 vs the lowest that is close to $26,400 for the same car configuration before taxes, tag and registration. So driving up to 200 miles from home each way is a minor thing if I could save $4K that will cover for the taxes, tag and registration and could also allow me to by the extended warranty for the car. Once I close the deal I will be publish the names and locations of the dealers without providing the name of the salesman in order to comply with this forum rules. My suggestion is to check with multiple dealers in order to get the best deal based on your needs and possibilities. Good Luck Edgar
