| Speaking of the models we miss out on -- Honda seems to think Americans don't like station wagons. There's a huge market for them here. People keep them and run them into the ground (myself included), so you don't find the durable ones in the used car lots. They're out on the roads. Call us tree huggers, old-fashioned, "soccer moms" or whatever, but the station wagons still have a big American fan club. I hope Christina Ra checks out all the complaints I've read on line from people who bought an SUV or van, but want a wagon. Subaru has 3 different station wagons (if you count the Impreza as a wagon and not a hatchback), plus the Forester, which drives like a wagon, and they sell, even with a hefty price tag. When I bought my Accord wagon and sold my very well used 10 year old Civic, I had dozens of phone calls and got top dollar for it. I'm counting on recognizing at least a little of my old Civic wagon in the Fit. My Accord wagon is 11 years old with 280,000 miles on it -- I paid more up front, but I got my money's worth. When Honda dropped the Accord and Civic wagons and Toyota dumped the Camry wagon -- and those of us who knew them mourned their passing -- I thought they'd stopped making wagons. Check out the Honda Airwave in Wikipedia. Cool looking wagon, but I understand that it never left Japan. | |

the reason you could get such a good discount on the 02-05 si is NOT i repeat IS NOT because it simply was a hatchback; any true honda enthusiast knows that the first si was a hatch. The reason for it was because as an SI this civic was severly lacking. the previous generation (before the hatch) made the same horsepower out of a smaller engine, had a more engaging chassis and a nice high redline; all the things typical of an si. The ep3 had dull power steering (nothing like the new si), 15 inc wheels stock (moved up to 16's in 04) and was sitting in a heavy body and didn't really go fast at all. |
