But maybe that's the strategy: get buyers into the showrooms to look at the Fit, then upsell to the Civic. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Civic does not have a telescoping wheel either, right? I know I tried a Civic Si and found pretty much the same issue you are describing. I also had the same problem in my wife's $32k Honda Pilot. Just seems that the telescoping steering wheel is a feature Honda doesn't know exists (although i assume it is present in Acura ... isn't it?). So I don't think Honda is trying to pull any tricks by outfitting the Fit this way ... that's just the way all of their cars are.

I was told the driver's seat in both models would be 4 way adjustable - including height. Maybe the control not in the usual place?

Replying to: backy (Feb 17, 2006 10:16 am) If the US Fit's seats are like Japan's, then to adjust the seat height, you plant your butt firmly in the seat, then while pressing on the brake pedal, you rock backwards to pivot the front of the seat upwards. Here's the translation: "The operator in order for correct operational attitude to come off, adjusts the seat. Correct operational attitude, when the waist it is applied deeply in the seat, depress the pedal sufficiently without separating the back from the back rest, the attitude which can operate the steering wheel easily it is. The occupant, to be deep please make sure not to separate the back from the seat and the back rest in the seat. The suicide seat occupant in order for the face and the chest not to get near to the instrument panel the above necessity, lowers the seat to rear." They also have a bunch of disclaimers, about how you can submarine under your seatbelt, if you don't have your seat properly adjusted. Check out this link, and let me know if I'm understanding it properly.
