I think you'll find that everyone is paying MSRP (or greater depending on dealer accessories), so if you're just paying MSRP and no accessories (like I did), then I think you did good.

Thanks, Bobw. I agree that it does seem to be the norm -- but the few posts I'd see here and there reporting deals at below MSRP did have me hopeful that I could be one of those lucky people.

Like I said, though, I'm happy with the deal I eventually arranged. And I'll be even happier once the car gets here!

vs yaris by jkandell

"Does the yaris have ABS available? IMO that is worth a bit of the extra as well as the satisfaction of buying a car that will last 200-300K miles. Plus it has plenty of other interior goodies, and I dont know if the 1000 price difference given includes basics like AC and CD player. Then there are those two doors, the magic seat, keyless entry, and cruise that i will get with my Fit."

Probably in response to the Fit, Toyota now offers a "package C" which combines power doors, steering, CD, ABS, and curtain air bags, plus sliding rear seats. I haven't competitively priced the yaris, but one Phoenix dealer offered me $15,631 otd. ("Your IDP*:$ $13924.00 [+] $1127.84 Tax, $205.00 Title & License $ 5 AZ tire Tax & $369 Doc fees= Out the Door: $15630.84").

The deal-breaker against Yaris for me is the two side doors, versus four for Fit. Worth it, if you think about a baby carseat. Plus Fit's cargo space is more than Yaris. I've owned Toyota's my whole life, currently own an Echo (highly recommend), and actually prefer the simplicity of yaris's insides compared with the Fit. But the doors and cargo are enough for me to wait a couple months as long as I can find msrp plus no add ons for the Fit. And that's the rub!

Well I put down my deposit, for a lunar blue base MT. "In transit" as of 12/18, with a VIN number. I contacted about a dozen dealers in southern arizona and new mexico. MTs are hard to find. Dealer is saying here by January, seems to mesh with what folks here are saying. OTD for $16,192, or $2310 above invoice. Not nearly as good as the spanking deal by ciara1 (whose otd price was only $1,848 over invoice, 7.2% above msrp)! I could have gotten it for $16,130 if i were willing to order one (8-12 wks supposedly), but an ace in the hand was worth ten in the bush. As I discussed in previous posts, the dealer at first insisted on $600 tint/door guards, then $500 tint, finally agreed to none of them. I got an emailed "disclosure of numbers" listing the vin#, model, color and down payment etc; not sure if this is the same as a "buyer's order." If the deal goes through as planned I'll post specific dealer info to help others.

In short, it can be done: You can get a Fit delivered within a month at msrp plus 12.1% overhead.

I just got an email this morning from the internet manager at Hansel Honda in Petaluma CA (North of SF) They have an orange Sport AT ready to go at MSRP. I got the feeling they may be willing to deal on this. Maybe things are going to loosen up a bit on Fit pricing.

Especially if you're willing to buy before the end of the year you might get a great deal.

Has anyone figured out how much their dealer has made on their Fit? I guessemated--assuming 2.5% holdback and buying at msrp (but with $369 doc fee)--my dealer is making $1370 off my car. I'm assuming this is higher than one finds with new cars not so much in demand?

We ordered our Silver Fit Sport with 5 speed manual in late July. We worked directly with the owner of the local Honda dealer here in Columbia SC who is a personal friend. Even though we are pure Honda people, we have two other Hondas and a brand new Acura TLS, it still has taken 5 months and it is due in next Friday. The wait has been a little frustrating but it will be well worth it. I like the fact that the 5 speed manual sport will be a rare car. We paid nothing down,no add ons and out the door price is $16,158.00.

paid sticker price which isn't bad down here. it had 5 miles on it. I got it the 2nd day it was here.

it's a surprisingly peppy little car. I'm 6'1" and bought it for the wifey who's 5'2". we both enjoy it.

happy new year
