questions from a lease newb by mstein_88

I'm looking into a lease for the first time. At the advice of some of you folks, I'm currently looking to get a few Internet sales quotes via email from my local dealerships. Here's the first one I received. I realize it's probably not nearly enough information, so how should I respond to it and what exactly should I be asking for? Any input is much appreciated. Thanks all.

"The 2010 Honda Accord Lx sdn leases for $179. + tax per month. This is with $3000. due at signing. This lease is for 30 months with 12000 miles per year. Please call me to schedule your test drive."

I'm reading backward as I decide what to do with my 2007 EX-L V6 lease set to expire soon. I need to comment about the I4 VS. the V6 and I must say there is a HUGE difference in the MPG - at least in the 2007 model. I want to say since I've had the car I've gotten only in the vicinity of 20 MPG whereas my inlaws with the exact same vehicle but the I4 average in the high 20s to low 30s. The needle moves so quickly from full:(

So...I need to decide whether I buy my 07 at $16.2k (just under the 36k miles) or just buy a new I4 as leasing is not in the cards this time. The V6 power and especially the suspension is nice but not worth the extra $$$ spent on gas. I think if I were to figure it over the long run, say 10 years, they would even out in price. If anyone has any comments or suggestions I would love to hear them! I also would love to hear recent prices in the MA/RI area for EX-L I4s.

Hi Wang_Jicheng, congrat on the new 09 Accord. Which dealer did you get the car from? Did you get it through the internet or deal in person? I am in LA and looking for An Accord in the next couple weeks. Thanks! Tom

for the 2010 accords, there is negligible difference in the gas consumption between v6 and 4 cylinder- at least on paper. just an fyi.
there's some system they added to the v6 that shuts down the cylinders if you don't need them or something.

Wish this was available in the 2007 model!

Can anyone recommend hor I should go about the negotiation for a Accord purchase plus return of my lease? I assume I should negotiate price first and then tell them I have one to return.

I think that was a good quote... I don;t see any incentives on the 2010 EX-L V6 auto Coupes.

Dealer cost is $26972 after hold back..Invoice is $27,558 (hold back is around $600) Why would a dealer sell a car at a loss??

You would have to be really lucky and the dealer would HAVE to NEED to move a single car to get a price below true dealer cost. The chances of walking into that situation is small. Dealerships (or any company) won't ROUTINELY sell at a loss

A fair price for any car without any incentives is 3% over invoice if you use the sales force and invoice if you use only the Internet dept.

A good price on a 2010 Honda Accord EX-L v6 Auto should be around $28,400 Before TTL (but INCLUDING DEALER ADDON FEES) A really Great price would be less than $28,000 plus TTL

If people are claiming to have purchased the car for less than $27,000 plus only Tax and DMV the dealer is selling at a loss and that cannot be considered a normal target price for anyone. .

I offered my dealer 3% over invoice (inclusive of all "dealer fees") plus tax and DMV for mine as I used a sales person time and made a few visits taking up a lot of his time before I made an offer of 3% over dealer invoice at 1.9% for 36 months. Easy deal. Everyone was happy.

Invoice was $27,260. . Included were splash guards, wind deflector, wheel locks, and dealer installed window tint. I bought my car where I will have it serviced which is a plus especially being in a one horse town and the next nearest Honda dealership is 100 miles away where there are only two........

When I was car shopping 2 weeks ago I asked for quotes from 14 dealers. 7 responded and the quotes ranged from $26,750+TTL to $27,400+TTL for a 2010 EX-L v6 sedan. 3 of the quotes were for under $27,000 so getting the car for under invoice is not a rare situation.
