#1971 of 2152 Do your (HOMEWORK) before buying a used Prius !
Sep 10, 2009 (9:17 am)
On 8-6-09 i purchased a 09 Toyota Prius track car from Lowe Toyota in Warner Robins, Ga. 31088 . I was not told at the time of sell that this was actually a car from a dealerships rental fleet. I feel i could have purchased a 2010 after the fact for the price i paid for this used vehicle. I paid $23954.14 for this car with only 5,000 miles on it. I did have a couple of options added to this vehicle and the price included the full warrenty in which i paid nearly $1,300 for. After telling the dealership my feelings. The salesman ask me to drive 140 miles one way to make things right with me so he said. Much to my disappointment i was only allowed 17,500 for my used Prius for a new 2010 which they did not have at the time i purchased the one i have. Also i got some dirty looks from the sales staff while i was there. Come to find out from another dealer i got royally screwed on my car concerning the purchase price. I am still shopping for a 2010 because of the re-design and the increase in gas mileage. As far as being satisfied with my current Prius it is what it is. A great car gets great mileage and drives like a dream ! Its just that if i gotta pay for a new car over the next 75 months. I had rather have a brand new 2010 than a slighty used 2009 base model.

I'd be happy to help you out, acm741. As one might expect, Toyota is not currently providing any sort of lease support on the Prius in any of the regions that I have seen its program for. As a result, if you were to lease a 2006 Prius through Toyota Financial Services right now you would have to use its standard lease program. The last time that I saw it, TFS' buy rate standard lease money factor was .00265 for consumers who qualify for its Tier 1+ credit tier. Its residual values vary depending upon how long you lease it for and how many miles per year you are able to drive. TFS' 36 month, 15,000 mile per year residual value for this car is currently 55%. Let me know if you want to lease it for a different term or mileage allowance.

#1977 of 2152 prius lease?
Mar 29, 2006 (7:49 pm)
I was just wondering what Prius' are typically leasing for. I got a quote today that was $590 a month (for 36 months) with 0 down, $570 with $1000 down. this is for a new prius with package 7, with an MSRP of $28,221. That quote seems ridiculously high. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

HELLO. WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO GIVE ME LEASE FIGURES??
A '06 PRIUS WITH A $23,232 PRICE TAG, 48 MONTH LEASE AND WITH NO MONEY DOWN. I HAVE AN 800 CREDIT SCORE. WHAT WOULD THE MONTHLY PAYMENTS BE,ALSO, AND WHAT SHOULD THE RESIDUAL VALUE BE AT THE END OF THE LEASE? WHAT WOULD BE THE LEASE/MONEY FACTOR?
ALSO, WHAT IS THE EXACT DOLLAR AMOUNT THAT WOULD BE FINANCED DURING THE TERM OF THE LEASE?
IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT BASED ON THE ABOVE CAR INFO, THAT IF THE ABOVE CAR HAD A RESIDUAL OF $11,000 AFTER 48 MONTHS, MY ACTUAL FINANCING AMOUNT WOULD BE $12,232, PLUS INTEREST. IS THIS TRUE? OR IS THERE ANOTHER FORMULA THAT'S BEING USED??
IT'S APPEARS THAT SOME OF THE FIGURES I HAVE BEEN GETTING HAS ME PAYING MORE INTEREST ON A 4 YEAR LEASE THAN INTEREST ON A 4 YEAR PURCHASE. I'M STILL SCRATCHING MY HEAD ON THAT ONE!!!
AND IF I MAY, WHO ACTUALLY OWNS THE CAR/LEASE?? THE LEASING COMPANY OR THE DEALERSHIP?? WHO GET'S TO KEEP THE MONTHLY CHECK?? IF THE LEASING COMPANY OWNS THE CAR, AT WHAT RATE COMPARED TO MSRP DO THEY PAY FOR THE CAR?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

#1980 of 2152 2006 Prius Lease

Hi Car Man,
I have a new Prius coming in tomorrow (6/3). I am wondering what sort of lease rate (money factor and residual) I can get from Toyota on this car. I am thinking of leasing it for 3 years/36,000 miles. Also, do you know the cost per additional mile beyond 36,000?
