I purchased a new '08 Prius - white with bisque leather interior Package 6 this weekend from a dealer in Philadelphia, PA. I only have 140 miles on it and so far I'm up to 47 mpg mixed highway and local driving ... unbelievable! I'm from NJ and I did my research on the internet through www.cars.com and located 10 dealers in a 50 mile radius and asked each for their best price. Here's what I did: Went to www.cars.com ...under the "New Cars" category, I selected an '08 Prius and typed in my zip code, hit enter, then under "See invioce pricing" I clicked on the "Build my own" button. Then, after selecting all the options I wanted, it provides a listing of the dealers in your area to send your custom listing to for a quote. You can send 3 at a time. Most dealers wanted MSRP, however 3 were willing to come down in price -($800, -$500 and -$300). Two dealers willing to come down $800 and $500 didn't have any in stock and I would have had to wait 6 to 8 weeks to order one. The 3rd dealer in Philly actually had the car I wanted in stock (last one too!). So I called them and said the two other dealers were willing to give me a better deal and I had their email to prove it. So he talked to the manager and they decided to increase the discount from $300 to $400 if I came down that day ... so I took the deal. If I had waited 2 months for one, I would have paid hundreds just in gas alone. I originally started looking for used ones with low mileage, however the used ones are holding their value in the low to mid $20's .. with less features and you had to settle for options i wasn't interested in. So the good news is, they are holding their value! So there are deals out there if you look hard enough! I love my Prius so far! Hope this helps!

Last week I purchased a 2008 Prius with Package#6 for ~$200 below Invoice (not MSRP). The price excluding taxes and doc fee was ~$25,700. Check with the Internet division of Toyota Sunnyvale. They got very good deals and they send the quotes through email upfront.
