Darcars Toyota, Frederick MD Prius w/ Package#2, $1400 under MSRP ($1 over "Invoice"), $22,310. Beat Edmunds TMV by $700, so I felt it was pretty good. Also, beat Fitzmall by $300. They were selling low-end Prius' like crazy, so I hit them at the right time. I got the Platinum Warranty for $1250, "Retail" is $1895. I guess the finance guy was in a good mood? Or maybe that's the going "discount"? Anyway, he was happy so I guess he gets a good paycheck. I always prided myself at not being taken in by dealer warranties, and have managed to get economical extended warranties. Funny thing tho is that I've never had to use them! So, I really don't know how easy it is to get service from those companies. But, this is a reasonable cost compared to other non-Toyota warranties, and I am somewhat worried about the Prius not being servicable other than at Toyota, so... I have a friend who had a Toyota warranty and his 2004 Prius display went dead after 30,000 miles, and they fixed it in a day for free, no hassle. He's got 133,000 miles and has had no other problems, but he's got an additional extended warranty, just in case. |

I got a quote for a 2008 Prius, package #5 for $25,149 (a little over $1500 off MSRP). Is this a good deal? I've contacted lots of dealers, but this is my first time ever buying a car ... and since I'm a woman, I fear dealers will try to take advantage of me. Should I go for it? Thanks!

Replying to: lisajanae (Mar 21, 2008 11:39 am) I just got a black package 5 in North NJ yesterday for 25,000 at 5.4 financing. Put 4000 down. My wife is thrilled so I guess it's a good price for me... The one thing that I thought was weird was that the dealer wanted 600 bucks to install the on board XM/Sirius...????? I didn't go for it and they didn't really push it either. Do you guys know how this works with the sat radio so it's integrated in to the console ?.. Is it possible ? Thanks |

I just bought a package 2 at Hollywood Toyota for $22k + tax and title. I just emailed the internet saleswoman until she agreed to my price, which I think is pretty great. Plus, they were all really nice there.

I just picked up a Magnetic Gray package 6 for $25,431. I saw an ad from a San Bruno dealer on Craigslist for $25,600 (which is the lowest I've ever seen for a pkg6!) , and I called Walnut Creek Toyota (my local) to see what they could do...George in the Internet Sales dept was awesome......no pressure at all, long test drive by ourselves to check some things out, came back, paid cash, and thanks to this website (and priuschat) the guy in the finance and insurance dept didn't have a chance of unloading his crap on me! $27,953.00 out the door with TTL in northern california. |
