Hi isellhondas....I'm not in the US right now and I sent a dealer a question and they never got back to me and I was wondering if by chance you had any advice. The difference in price between the CRV LX and EX is several thousand dollars. And the one thing I absolutely hate about the LX is those black side view mirrors that don't match the color of the vehicle. Of all the other EX additional items, I really don't care about any of them. I do like the sunroof but 80% of the time my wife is asking me to close it.
So what I'm wondering about is, can I lease an LX and put on EX side view mirrors? Spend a few hundred dollars and save a few thousand. Within the question is the question is that considered a vehicle modification by Honda and is it allowed?
I saw a few ILXs before I left the US and I don't think they are bad looking on the outside. As always at least lately, its whats under the hood that's the letdown. Acura has gotten so many things wrong over the last 10 years. I used to work for a Japanese telecommunication company which wasn't very Americanized and was easily influenced by they their supposedly knowledgable American staff. But that Honda/Acura top management has been so misled for so long by what I'm guessing is a bunch American MBAs that know nothing about the auto industry is a mystery to me.
#1296 of 1304 Negotiate before leasing?

In the past I've typically negotiated an OTD price via email/phone prior to going to the selected dealer to pick up/purchase a vehicle.
While the 0 down $290/35 months for an LX CRV deals are attractive, the final net capitalized cost of the vehicle is $25,131. TrueCar target is $23,264 approximately $1,900 less.
Trying to decide if it's worth negotiation for an OTD price, then switching to lease prior to financing, or if the national program doesn't have wiggle room.

I'm very much in the same mode as you. But when I was looking at CRV-LX numbers FW or AWD I don't even see a MSRP that's as high as your net cap cost. Can you elaborate?

Its times like this I wish I was smarter.
I came across a post from a few weeks back which was:
2014 CRV LX FWD
$1000 down (first payment, title, doc fees)
$260/month all inclusive with a 62% residual and .0008MF and 12K miles/year
When I ran the numbers from your link through the bankrate lease calculator modified a bit I get:
Cap Cost: $22834 (I added in $595 lease fee)
Down Payment: $0
Sales Tax 7.19 (Florida)
Total Payment: $262.24
What I surmise if the lease calculator is accurate is that the national lease deals from AHF are not necessarily all that attractive.
I'm going in, in a few weeks to lease a vehicle and I'm not even going to talk money with the Salesman or Sales Manager. I just want to sit down with their Finance/Lease Manager for 20 minutes and run through my scenarios verses his national specials and see what works out best.

I'm a bit dense I just realized that when I leased my Civic LX 32 months ago that I emailed dealers and asked them to beat the national lease offer they had at that time (0 down, 35 payments of $200). I ended up with 0 down, 35 payments of $163 and 6 free oil changes.
Have that email template and spreadsheet still in Google Docs, so will use that as basis to see how/who can beat the national lease deal.

Definitely sounds like a good deal and what I'll be shooting for.
My 2010 CRV was an EX. I'm kind of curious what color you got. I'm still trying to get over my issue with those black side view mirrors that don't match the body.

i got the polished metal metallic, but the Urban Titanium Metallic looks really nice also, i feel you can do no wrong by going with a dark color

Last week I was working on the Mazda CX-5 Touring and its just more money then I want to spend at least in comparison to the CRV-LX. Because of how the two companies structure their trim levels and the fact that you can drop a trim level with Honda and you get the same engine makes it a bit of an apples and oranges comparison but at a $40-$50 per month difference I'll go with Honda.
If you don't mind me asking what was the Cap Cost/Selling Price on your deal to get to that monthly number?
