kind of guy who would trade in your new car for one with that kind of "real" roof if you really wanted it.
You know me too well.
Sometimes I do see an old Grand Marquis, Lincoln, Cadillac down here and they are all pimped up, and it seems that it could be a lot of fun to have an extra car like that. Just use it for special occassions...like going to Bob Evans for the Early Bird Special.

I was perusing the Dayton car show info for this weekend to see if I was even interested in paying to see cars in a group... I found there was a contest for $15000 toward purchase of a car. However, read this rule:
"8. In the order in which the finalists were drawn, each of the five (5) finalists will participate in an athletic event. Regulations describing the athletic event will be provided to each finalist on Sunday, February 24th, 2013 prior to commencement of the event. The first finalist to successfully accomplish the challenge will be the grand prize winner. In the event that no finalist successfully accomplishes the challenge, no Grand Prize will be awarded."

Sounds like they're not even going to award the prize if some physical test can't be made by any of the 5? What physical test? Lifting 250 pounds? Running 1 mile in 5 minutes. Shooting a basketball into the hoop from midcourt? Putting 9 golf balls into the cup at one time like the current viral video?
What's with this. AARP should file a suit about how this is unfair to older, or less capable, people?
The Dayton Area Auto Dealers sponsors it but their address is 85 miles away in Dublin, OH, an upscale suburb of Columbus. Wouldn't ya think they'd have a local, Dayton, address?

Meanwhile, I was up at the doc for the three week check up (went in the Mazda) and all is looking good!
Great news. Don’t screw it up now.

Mrs. j’s 2012 Legacy H6 (‘dino’ did you catch this
) came from the Subie dealer in Dublin. The showroom was not upscale, petty ordinary really, but I’ve gotten an email lately to come in because of their remodeling sale. I asked Mrs. j if she wanted to go get a “construction deal” (that’s the way they are advertising it). You’ll never guess what kind of a look she gave me.

I guess you can enter the contest and when they tell you what this athletic event will be you can decide whether to continue or not. But, that is very weird. Maybe the prize is being offered by a gym or something, and they want only people who are athletic to apply, since they will be bombarding all contestants with offers to join their gym.
It could be they just want to do a fun thing to pick a winner. Like do a putt and see who can get it in.
Last night we went to a Tampa Lighning vs Toronto Maple Leafs hockey game. You have to do it once in your life just to find out why you don't want to ever do this again.
We went 2 years ago and bought tickets online, they were $40 each. The place was only 1/4 full and they were selling tickets outside for $10. This time we got there 2 hours early and they were close to sold out. We had 4 people and I told the ticket guy we needed 4 tickets. He said it would cost $120 and they were right at mid-ice.
I thought that was good for 4 tickets, but he said, no, that was for one ticket! Who in their right mind would pay $120 for a ticket to a hockey game....$240 a couple?????
We said we will sit in the end in the nosebleed section. He got us tickets in the top seats....about as high as man has gone in an indoor rink, right at the end....with organ pipes about 50 feet away. The noise was unbelievable.
We ate at a noisy restaurant that had a bowling alley in the middle and loud rock music. Impossible to have a normal conversation. It was OK over expensive and just adequate food.
Glad we ate there because inside coffee was $5, a beer $6 or a full mug $9, hotdog $6, plain hamburger $8.
I say it is always good to go every few years just to remember why I don't ever want to go again. Oh yeh, parking is $20 and about a 5 block walk.
Not only that but Toronto lost....had to find out later,....we were all happy to leave after the 2nd period.

Americans do it all the time. No telling what their limit is to watch Canadians fight with each other for 3 periods. We have a saying here…“I went to fight and a hockey game broke out”.
As you found out, on average, NHL tickets cost more than NFL tickets. That will be a cold day in Hawaii when I fall for that.

The regulars here remember how I was jumped on by a few of the sales guys here a few years back just for calling a local dealer and asking what the DOC fee was in PA because I wanted to confirm that they had just gone up to $150 from $55 back in ’09. It seems like just taking the call counted as a hit against the poor salesman’s up count. OH BOY was that something?
I remember that. They wanted to lynch you! I didn't see what the big deal was.

Just got back from a long day out with my Dad. I wanted to keep him out all day because he said he hasn't been sleeping very well - thought if I got him really worn out, he'd sleep through the night.
We started out at about 9:45 AM and drove out to Sawgrass Mills to take a nice long walk through their nearly 1 mile of indoor outlet stores. I also needed some new underwear and the Jockey Outlet Store was having a big sale - 40% off if you buy three packages of T shirts and 3 packages of Briefs + another 20% off the total. After picking up the merchandise at a great price, we stopped off at their food court for lunch.
On the way home, I stopped for gasoline - $4.39 a gallon which was the cheapest premium I could find - I gritted my teeth a cursed Washington as every dollar rang up - $68.00 I pumped into my tank - what a crock of ....
We stopped off at home and I caught up on some email, and then we drove over to the Jaguar dealership in Pompano Beach - I've never driven one so I thought I'd try one out.
The dealership is located just off I-95. I walked in with Dad and browsed a little, sitting in an XF. A salesman walked over to me and asked if I had any questions. I told him I'd like to test drive an XF turbo to see if I would like it enough to buy one. He asked me what I was driving - I told him a Mercedes Benz E 350 Sport Sedan. He asked what kind of options I had and I told him. He then says to me, "...you don't want to drive an XF Jaquar - you won't like it!" I asked him why he thought that. He responded, "...I've never been able to get a customer who drove an E or S class Mercedes to switch to a Jaguar, so I don't want to waste your time or my time!"
I have to honestly say that I have never been denied a demo drive before on my entire life (except in 1967 when I walked into a Chevy dealer and asked to test drive a Corvette and was told I couldn't afford one - and then went to the manager and paid cash for it after which I was allowed to test drive my own car). Can you imagine the idiocy of that salesman.
I asked him if I could still test drive one. His response was "...I'll have to speak with my manager!" I told him not to bother - that I would like to speak to his manager. Well, I got to test drive an XF, and by gosh, he was right. There is no way I would own a car like that. It was very incomfortable in the driver's seat. I tried adjusting the seat but could not get my right leg from being jammed into the front of the console. Me head was flush against the sunroof. The car was very fast, handled nicely, but there was absolutely no room in the back seat.
But I truly could not believe this salesman - not letting me drive an XF. I can easily see why he can't sell a Mercedes owner a Jaguar. HE WON'T LET THEM DRIVE ONE!
