As far as the EPA and the fueleconomy.gov website are concerned the FWD Escape, AWD Escape, FWD Hybrid Escape and AWD Hybrid Escape are four unique models. Japanese cars usually don't have as many multiple powertrain configurations that would show up as unique models in the EPA system. When you look at F-150s on fuel economy.gov you get F150 2WD, F-150 4WD and then FFV versions of those as well. If you actually add up all the seperate powertrain options for the domestics into one model, which is how sales data is actually reported, then that knocks a lot of the foreign makes out of the top 10. Even with the foreign makes in their many of them are made in the US. The Corolla and Camry are both made here and so is the Civic too I think.

I have no problem with Ford selling more cars than any one else in the C4C program. verdugo thinks I don't like Fords because I found this headline; Seems Toyota and Hyundai were the big winners in the program. I don't get why that would make me not like Fords? I just reported the fact as I see them. But your input does have to be taken into consideration. It would be interesting to see the total numbers by model. |

I don't care if the salesman told him to go faster. The driver was the one in control and behind the wheel and could have said no. Did the salesman hold a gun to his head and tell him to speed up to 100mph or else? Would the driver have driven off the cliff if the salesman told him to? Probably not. So why is blame being shifted to the dealership already? Why can't people take responsiblity for their own actions?

Usually if I'm on Fern Valley Rd I'd have taken the I-65 south exit east, which will run you past the Ford Motor Assembly Plant towards Preston Highway. That stretch along Fern Valley Rd. is easy to speed on as there is some distance between stop lights. Unfortunately there are a lot of small business set back from the road. When I test drove our Buick Century Wagon, that we bought from that same Commonwealth Dodge dealership about 10 years ago, part of the loop we drove on included Fern Valley, |

Replying to: richard64 (Aug 24, 2009 12:10 pm) Its like people here think there is still $6000 mark up in a new Focus. You guys know better. From triple net to list you might have $1900-$2200. So if you got it all and $500 for your POS you net out $2700. With the C4C you got $4650 plus another $1K if you clunked a Ford for a Ford. Quit hating the program because you didn't have a car to play in it with. BTW, Richard not directed at you, it just so happens it is your post where I decided to reply.

As you can see, if you qualify for a $4,500 Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) credit, you can purchase a Kia Spectra for less than half price. Joel says: From triple net to list you might save $1900-$2200. So if you got it all and $500 for your POS you net out $2700. With the C4C you got $4650 plus another $1K if you clunked a Ford for a Ford. If I understand this, the dealer would have taken $2700 off max with a trade ($500). With C4C the Focus should still be $2200 off, less almost $4500 that the government is throwing in. Where did the difference go? This means the car is being sold at full MSRP, less C4C. If I got this right, it is not nice, especially when it is tax payer money going directly to the dealership. Please clarify.
