I think the dealership is wrong on many counts. There was no chain of events. They must know there is a problem with the engine before they change the catalytic converter. Also, the fact they mixed your car up with another one tells me they are incompetent or they have a new way to try to be profitable. The least they should do is give you a $2000 credit towards a used or new car on the lot. If there is no settlement, IMO you should walk away. Once you start spending that much for repairs the problems only get worse...it's like gambling, the chances of coming out ahead are not likely. |

Replying to: graphicguy (Jul 08, 2009 4:58 am) Yes, I did authorize the repairs,,but the service advisor informed that the car was looked over thoroughly and the problem would be fixed.I have no problem in paying 2100 for the repairs---assuming the car runs. That`s what he told me.He specifically told me that there was an emmission system problem that needs to be fixed. The problem is ,,I have to pay 2100 for a car I cant drive.I went to the dealership to get the car repaired,,he says he would fix it,,and then says I have to pay 2100 for making the car undriveable and wanted me to trade in the car.. Thats why I was miffed at them--they did not know what was wrong,,just kept replacing parts,,and made the car useless ,want me to take it away and still pay them 2100.I told them I would pay if they fix it as promised.. And an 02 Neon,,I know it`s worthless And GG,I dont know why I applied for a salvage title.I thought maybe the dealer would think that I would trade it in and then he would re-sell the car...I know ,I know,,pretty lame thought! And till now he never called back,,nor mailed me an invoice nor sent me any payment claims..Nothing.Absolutely no contact whatsoever and no info.So i had no way to respond and as it was our 4th car we practically did not need it regularly and I forgot about it and one fine day just remembered about it courtesy my wife!! The thought that they could charge for storing the car never crossed my mind till now. They could atleast have informed me of that and I would not not have authorized that!!I could say that I want compensation for having no car for the past 6 months and the expenses I incurred for that !! So,a 02 Red Neon- with a salvage title,110k miles, undriveable with a repair bill of 2100 which was supposed to fix the car.. I am still not sure how to proceed? And by the way,,the difference between the dodge and the Toyota dealer- like chalk and cheese..So different..Depends on individual dealer though--not the brand.Well he got our repeat sales and service--2 Camrys,Tundra truck ,the Lexus--and regular maintenance and service which exceed OEM specs !

Would it help to talk with the owner of the dealership or the regional Dodge representative? 3. Have you thought about contacting the Better Business Bureau or the Chamber of Commerce? Though not usually very helpful, they could at least put your complaint on file. 4. Have you removed the tags from the car as a result of getting a new title? 5. Would a junk dealer remove the car for you in exchange for the car parts? Like oldfarmer and graphicguy, I do think that you should do something to resolve the situation and bring about closure. It's not good to leave something like this unfinished. You don't want it to come back on you later in some way. I realize that it is a big mess, and I would have reacted just as you did. Still, if you don't pay the current bill, I'm afraid that it may cause you trouble down the road. Hopefully, you'll find a solution to all of this. Keep us posted. Richard |

Replying to: traindriver (Jul 08, 2009 11:13 pm) Very good list. I have to give them credit too, because their choices were based on many factors, and reliability although important, wasn't an over-riding feature. So, Jetta, Passat, Caddie CTS, etc were chosen based on other factors. |

Replying to: traindriver (Jul 08, 2009 11:13 pm) 94% of owners would recommend... The real winner with the cars today are the buyers. They are so much better built today than years past, even the domestics. Now, for the Genny. If they are so great, and I think they are, why haven’t I seen another one on the road or in a parking lot, huh? Just last night ‘you know who’ said to me, “have you seen another one yet”. I said, “well…ah…ah…no! To which she said, “are you sure it’s a GOOD car"? jmonroe

Replying to: jmonroe (Jul 09, 2009 4:47 am) I am seeing a few here and there. I was at a red light in the burbs of Augusta, GA on Monday and saw 2 Gennys pass through the intersection, both black. I immediately thought of you.

Replying to: traindriver (Jul 09, 2009 4:57 am) Thanks for the thought but next time take a picture or two and link it here. There is some one I know that would like to see that. When I lived in S.C. (Aiken) I had a few friends that lived in Martinez, Evans, etc. I’ll check to see if any of them might have bought a Genny. Great minds think alike, you know. BTW, look at how many 4's I got with this post !! jmonroe
