Stick around, jmonroe Been selling more used cars then new of course but I think that trend is starting to turn around. Prices on used cars are still creeping up and the programs for new cars keep cramming the prices down closer to the used ones. More Volvos then Saabs the past few months and almost no Land Rovers. LRguy44 BR - good to hear from you. I dropped out for awhile but came back. Are you still at the same store? Many things have changed at our place - not all for the better. If you still have my e-mail, let's catch up! Still with the same company Cliff but I moved to our Volvo Saab store one town over. Traffic at the Land Rover store just fell off a cliff and they kept trying to add another salesperson to make three total. That store only needs two salesperson and I think after the last three they hired had left they finally figured that out. Three people can't make money there. deltheking Hi British Rover ,,Nice to see u back..read quite a lot of your previous posts. I have a question...Are you originally from Midland,Texas? I think I read that somewhere. Thanks.... Yup originally from Midland, Texas though I haven't lived there in 15ish years. We moved when my dad went active duty again and we moved to Virginia. hey qbrozen what is going on. Still have that G35X? Just crazy prices on new cars right now. I am usually the only flipping people from a new car to a used car as the deals on used cars were just so much better. I have had three people in the last couple of weeks that I flipped the other way. They came in looking for used cars, usually one year old 2008 models, but once I showed them they could buy a new 2009 model for just a couple of thousand more after all the incentives they went with new. What would you rather buy a 2008 S60 for 22,000-23,000 or a 2009 S60 with free maintenance for five years 60,000 miles at about $26,000? Kind of a new brainer really. |

Replying to: british_rover (Jul 07, 2009 8:19 am) It is kind of false alternative. If a new S60 can be had for 26K (wow - is that a real price? How much cash is in that car? That sounds like S40, not S60 to me), then a used one is not worth $22K. Plain and simple. So - I would say I would go for new, or perhaps I'd rather have a used one for $19K

I wouldn't be able to put on this "front" of having a well furnished main floor area of a huge house, only to have the rest of my family sleep in sleeping bags. That's just really really wrong. Basically you're putting on a show for others yet living in discomfort because of it. I don't get people sometimes. |

Replying to: british_rover (Jul 07, 2009 8:19 am) Yup. Been over a year now. Amazing I still have it, huh? ;b I've been spending alot of time with an '85 300zx I picked up in Feb, so I think that's been keeping the bug away. Although all these deals I've been seeing do tempt me. I'm way too buried in the G35x, though. Just don't email me any great '06 S60R GT buys and I think I'll be OK. Hmmm... seems more like a CCBA board post. Oh well. |

Replying to: dino001 (Jul 07, 2009 8:47 am) That is how you can buy a S60 for less then you can buy a S40 with less equipment. A S40 with less equipment is going to be in the $28,000 dollar range but a S60 SE will be around 26,000 and a regular S60 will be $27,000 to $28,000. These are all for FWD models an AWD S60 would of course be more. Volvo just came out with these extra incentives and the special priced S60 SEs this month so used car prices our out of sync for right now. They won't line up for a while as the prices being paid for 2008 cars coming off rental fleets and/or one year leases or 2007 models coming off lease are still the same. It will take a while for used car prices to fall and by the time though do the sell down of 2009 S60s will probably be over.

Hi,This is my incident regarding my 02 Dodge Neon.I bought the Neon in 02 with barely 3000 miles on it...Not too bad of a car,but there was a lot of emotional and sentimental attachment as we went to the dealer directly from the airport and drove it off the lot.But a huge gap definitely between the Camry and the Lexus that we now drive. Still as it was the first car we bought in Texas when we moved from upstate NY , we just kept it as a sentimental value and drove it regularly and had all the repairs done. [[which was not minor change]] So one day,,it just hesitated and was having a very very jerky drive and the SES light came on --the car was sputtering..So we took it to the Dodge dealer..The service guy calls me 3 hrs later and gives me a list of these problems---some engine problem,,CV shaft, drive system and fuel system problems-- and the bill was around 3000.I was like He calls me in 30 min and says he is sorry as there was another Red Neon --same year-- with that problem .And he messed up and he would call back ..That was true as I was driving by and saw both the Red Neons. Some coincidence!! He calls me in 2 hrs and says-the Mass airflow sensor is bad and has to be replaced and it would cost 300.I said fine--Go ahead.3 days go by- no response. So I call.He informs that the sensor was ordered and now the car has another problem that came up during the test drive. The cat. converter was bad and so had to be replaced..And it would cost about 1100.I said --Fine,,get it ..He assures me that the problem will now be solved. 4 days go by.No response. Now I was really angry and went to the dealership. He says the engine is shot...I asked him how come they never found what the problem was and just kept replacing parts...Same stupid chain reaction theory..I tell him I will take the car only if it`s fixed,, and he says it will cost 5k for the engine...I tell him he assured me that 300+1100+700 =2100 would be the final bill.I tell him I am not paying anything unless fixed and he tells me I have to pay 2100 to take home a junked undriveable POS and will give a goodwill discount of 200... So I have to pay 2k for a useless car and still have no car...He says if not paid --he wont return the car.. I said --Fine,,Keep it..I am not taking it back.I went home and applied a salvage title for it and cancelled the insurance..He never called back. The car is still on the dealer`s lot at exactly the same place for the last 6 months... So what happens now? What do I do? The salvage title is still in my name. What course of action do I take now?? Your thoughts and opinion ,folks? Thanks. |
