The red neck that I am talking about is prejudiced, hates all groups but the KKK, and spits on the side walks

Don't forget the NRA.

...to mention that the high temp today in Denver was 61.

I have used my seat warmers on a few occasions so far this winter, however.

Nice target audience. Maybe Chevy trucks should add options like gun racks, a flag holder, spitoon for chewing tobaccy, only "People kill People " poster holders on the doors!

"...It is now 6 degrees..."

Go ahead, brag about your heat wave. Minus 3 here, a few miles north of me it's minus 25.

I have to wonder if anybody goes car shopping in weather like this. I mean how could you demonstrate how smooth a car rides when the tires are frozen out of round by the cold? When I first move my car in this weather it feel like I'm riding a pogo stick.

What I do this time of year, is go and take a test drive with all the dealers who pissed me off on the last car purchase...and during the test drive I make sure and hit every pot hole I can with my tall cup of free dealer coffee in the console.

--just kidding of course.

Great idea. I'm going to do that.

Minus 3 here, a few miles north of me it's minus 25.

It was minus 7 F here in the Burgh area last night !! I’ve seen it worse like back in the early 70’s when it hit minus 20 F. I’m not complaining, I know it gets much worse, like in Minnesota and points further north.

I hope you guys let your car warm up for at least a few minutes before driving off. I just proved my point to Mrs. jmonroe this morning. I’ve always told her to make sure she warmed the car up before driving off especially when it gets cold like it has been lately and can you believe she said, “the girls at the office said the oils today are much bettering than in the past” (that part is true) and asked her why she always sat in a cold car for a little bit before driving off, “because the oils today flow just as well when its cold” (that part ain’t). HUH, are they challenging a technical wizard like me?

So, to prove my point (and I’ve done this a few times over the years, to prove it to myself, when I hear people say, “the oils flow better today than in the past”), I set a full quart of my best non-synthetic 10W30 on a bench outside last night then poured it and the same brand that sat in the garage (plus 36 F). Even she could see the outside oil was like molasses compared to the garage oil.

Nothing like a 6 th grade science experiment to get your point across.

driver.....I've got that "spitoon" option on the Tahoe. I got it for when I venture down to kyfdx's neck of the woods.

Off topic (since, with the exception of Richard, no one's selling, nor buying any cars).

In a real test of the economy, a few weeks ago I had a company talk to me several times who was based in Seattle. They actually made the trip to OH to meet me face-to-face about a position they had open. I was mildly interested, until.....

1) I had to move to Seattle
2) I had to do it on my own dime
3) They would offer no relocation assistance...not to sell my home, nor to buy another one in Seattle
4) They didn't even want to pony up an airline ticket for me to travel to their HQ, nor a hotel room

The conversation didn't last very long. And, they really wasted a trip to OH (which they presumably did just to talk to me).

Now, maybe I'm too egotistical. And yes, the employment situation is pretty dismal. But, c'mon....throw us a bone.

I'm glad that you kept that conversation short. Sounds like a tightass company to me. Even when I hired teachers, I had a budget to pay for their plane ticket to interview and I paid for the hotel expenses. We even helped with moving expenses and had security deposits waivered on their first house or apartment. If a school system can do that, you know that a company can do more. With no incentives, they really wasted the trip across country. Sounds like someone just wanted to get out of the office for a few days. There are such people.

As for buying a car---not in this cold weather. I had an invitation from a dealer in another town to see a GM this morning. I politely sent an email declining that offer when I woke up to 6 degrees this morning. That doesn't seem that cold compared to the rest of you, but if you live in North Carolina it is COLD.

Even my heat pump won't move from 64 up to the thermostat setting of 70. I put the thermostat on 80 and it is now climbing. We just aren't prepared down here for this kind of weather.

Richard
