I saw it a bit over 43 below in still air in Edmonton the winter of '71-'72. They played youth hockey outdoors then, and only cancelled practice & games when it went below -20. Farenheit then, & Celsius now. The good news is that at -40, they both read the same.

Replying to: cdnpinhead (Jan 14, 2009 6:27 pm) anyways, there is no way my wife is going to go out car shopping in these temperatures. my daughter is soliciting donations for the 'penguin plunge', so i guess the low temps don't bother her as much. |

Replying to: graphicguy (Jan 14, 2009 12:16 pm) Why can't they have the part sent in overnight? My BMW and Mazda dealers are almost always been able to get a part the next day. I took option "B". A nice new Aveo that I'm getting ready to drive back home, in hopes of returning and getting into a nice warm Tahoe. Bleh. Once my Mazda dealer was out of loaners so they called Enterprise and all that was left was an Aveo. It beat walking. Barely.

Yes, stating "nice" and "Aveo" in the same sentence is indeed an oxymoron. I don't know what I can say about them. They've got a steering wheel, 4 tires, a heater, and they "GO" (kind-of). I guess the best thing I can say about it is it probably drives better than a SMART car. But, that's not a compliment, by any stretch. Speaking of SMART cars, I saw not one, but two of them stuck on the side of the road (I-71) abandoned, yesterday. Tahoe has heat. Heading for home. Some mumbo-jumbo about this and that "module" replaced. Bottom line, it was all electrical related, not mechanical. As irritating as the inconvenience was, Tahoe has some of the best heated seats in the "biz".

Replying to: graphicguy (Jan 15, 2009 9:24 am) I was wondering about those Smart cars....haven't seen one with snow tires on it. I would feel silly going in and ordering 4 snow tires for a Smart Car, what could they cost $19.99 each? As irritating as the inconvenience was, Tahoe has some of the best heated seats in the "biz". I don't know how much better Tahoe heated seats can be. Any car I've had with heated seats seems dangerous if you forget to turn them down fairly soon...feel like I could get 3rd degree burns if I don't watch it.
