In 1982, I bought a new Accord.. Showed up at 5:00pm on Saturday.. they closed at 6:00pm... Drove home in my new car at 8:45pm, after we called out for pizza...

Oh yeah... I went there to shop for a used Civic...

it's just like the gas grille. you don't run out of gas unless you are cooking on it.

I got a question. Does anyone actually go looking for a car when the temperature gets this cold?

Well even with this cold I haven't given up on my lunch time walk.

Let's hear it for Portage & Main -- supposedly the coldest intersection in Canada (as long as you ignore the Yukon & NWT, plus Edmonton).

Generally, Edmonton & Winnipeg compete for the title of coldest city in Canada. I saw it a bit over 43 below in still air in Edmonton the winter of '71-'72. They played youth hockey outdoors then, and only cancelled practice & games when it went below -20. Farenheit then, & Celsius now. The good news is that at -40, they both read the same.

the coldest i can remember seeing here is ct is -10F. there is a cold spot on my way to work. a soon as i passed it, i heard a piece on the rear hatch of my explorer go 'crack'. fixing it was a $500 repair, but ford picked all but $50.
anyways, there is no way my wife is going to go out car shopping in these temperatures.
my daughter is soliciting donations for the 'penguin plunge', so i guess the low temps don't bother her as much.

It depends,
 1) is there a NEED for it
 2) what's your definition of cold?

1)Yes, if you really need a car, usually a Pontiac that breaks down on the way to the airport you must get a new one right away.
2).Something about a brass monkey?????

They HOPE it will come in tomorrow. Then, they have to install it.

Why can't they have the part sent in overnight? My BMW and Mazda dealers are almost always been able to get a part the next day.

I took option "B". A nice new Aveo that I'm getting ready to drive back home, in hopes of returning and getting into a nice warm Tahoe.

Bleh. Once my Mazda dealer was out of loaners so they called Enterprise and all that was left was an Aveo. It beat walking.
Barely.

oxymoron by graphicguy

Yes, stating "nice" and "Aveo" in the same sentence is indeed an oxymoron. I don't know what I can say about them. They've got a steering wheel, 4 tires, a heater, and they "GO" (kind-of). I guess the best thing I can say about it is it probably drives better than a SMART car. But, that's not a compliment, by any stretch.

Speaking of SMART cars, I saw not one, but two of them stuck on the side of the road (I-71) abandoned, yesterday.

Tahoe has heat. Heading for home. Some mumbo-jumbo about this and that "module" replaced. Bottom line, it was all electrical related, not mechanical.

As irritating as the inconvenience was, Tahoe has some of the best heated seats in the "biz".
