I didn’t have the 30 minute rule down pat then but when we got up to leave after the salesman disappeared going for the OK from the SM (right after they were turning out the lights), he comes out smiling and said, “congratulations, you just bought yourself a car”. When I said, “why couldn’t you accept this offer 20 minutes ago? He said, “this is the last time today we have a chance to sell that car”.  This is right in line with what Son #1 told me when he worked as a lot boy for a very large Chevy place in the summer after his junior year of high school. He had to help close the place a couple nights a week and he said there would always be a couple of salesman that would come to him and say something like, “clean that Blue one because it’s going out of here tonight” and another salesman would say the same thing to the other kid. Finally after he saw that those cars were sold, he asked one of the salesman how he could be so sure that he was going to make the sale. The reply was, “I wouldn’t take that deal at 9 AM. but I’m not going to lose it at 9 PM “. Makes sense.  jmonroe |
