It depends,

1) is there a NEED for it

2) what's your definition of cold?

I got a question. Does anyone actually go looking for a car when the temperature gets this cold?

Follow up question, for the few buyers on really cold days, is there a chance of getting a better deal than if the weather was warmer?

"Pull Over."

I love that! BTW, you really are a smart boy with all of those heater drawings and descriptions. I'm impressed.

Oh not even close, last summer I went north for a conference to Iqaluit. Now that is close to Santa! (to put perspective on that, get on a plane in Buffalo and fly almost due north for just as long as it would take to fly to Caracas, Venezuela) Early July and temps in the mid 30sF

imid....nothing so eccentric as the motorized vanes. Just the electrical module where the auto temp gauge/temp and fan speed resides. I guess the whole thing tells the heater core, and the A/C comp, as well as the fan speed how and when to function. They've got to order it.

They HOPE it will come in tomorrow. Then, they have to install it.

I guess if there is an upside, they said they'd cover a hotel room. That's not much of an option since I don't have any clean underwear anywhere that I can find in the vehicle. That doesn't mean there isn't a pair of underwear somewhere in the back, just that I can't find any. Plus, what in the world am I going to do on the outskirts of Columbus when it's snowing and 15 degrees outside? Go to the hotel and watch reruns of "Jeopardy"?

I took option "B". A nice new Aveo that I'm getting ready to drive back home, in hopes of returning and getting into a nice warm Tahoe.

Thought I had the service writer talked into letting me use a 'vette", that is, until he spoke to the Service Manager.

NO HEAT and outside temp reading 13.

Of all the times for a heater to go out......

I was late getting to this place then I see this post.

Man, have you been sh1% upon or what?

That’s what I like about “Murphy”, he’s alive and well and always more than happy to prove it to you.

Check your A/C, I’ll bet it’s working. My windshield wipers never failed when the sun was shining.

By the time you see this post, you'll be all fixed-up, right?

Edit: I just saw you post to 'imid'

Great - so now you can drive home in the Aveo and pick up some underwear...

>, they've been making the same crappy part for over 15 years!

What's to be changed in a motor with nylon gears in a casing and an output arm? If it were a brand other than GM people would say how dependably designed it were.

Actually I made an assumption that it's the single manual AC unit. If it's the dual unit the parts might not be shared with cars using more basic parts.

Local guy had a black Marauder with those plates on it, and ran around tailgating folks like he was some undercover detective or something. He even put in those hard-to-see narrow rectangular red or blue light housings inside the windshield. He wasn't a policeman or sheriff, in my opinion. Unmarked cars are not legal to be used in traffic control in Ohio.

I have a feeling the local police stopped him. Haven't seen that car around for a year or more.
