Wish Mack the best. I hope that his future treatments are tolerated well and that they lead to a remission or cure. I really love reading the Mack TO BE CONTINUED stories and hope to read many more.

Your Buying Tips 101 was great. Now who's going to do one from the buyers perspective?

My thoughts and prayers to Mack & family....

First, please tell MACK he's in everyone's thoughts and prayers.

I've been following the saga of you Grand Marquis purchase. What are your reservations about owning a car in its last year of production? I'm sure parts are readily & cheaply available.

My 2001 Honda Prelude Type SH (October 2001 Build Date) is one of the last Preludes ever made. I've had no part availability problems at all. My only problem is that GENUINE HONDA PARTS are expensive (the 4 "H" logo centercaps were stolen from my wheels & cost almost $50 each).

Richard....yes, if you do contact Mack again, I just want to extend more thoughts and prayers to add to the others here. As soon as I think times are tough for me, personally, I realize it could be a whole lot worse. Hopefully, he comes out of this stronger....better!

So, the GM is going away. I know you kind of had your heart set on one. But, if you like the thought of that sort of ride, there are some options.

An Avalon would probably fit the bill on the Toyota side. The afore mentioned Buick Lucerne/Lacrosse. Acura TL isn't selling all that well. Nice cars. Many don't like the redesign (I do, though). Someone else mentioned the Ford Taurus....probably the closest "feel" to the GM, but updated with all the most modern safety "stuff". Heck, I bet you could make a whale of a deal on a Lincoln MKZ right now.

GG has some good cars to compare Richard. Might also try a Lexus and a Lexus SAV RX350. Even though your heart is kind of set on a GM trying some of these cars might alter your thoughts or confirm your original thoughts.

"Jim Gridell was possibly my favorite."

Goodness. You have a good memory. Remember when we got tired of waiting and I finished it for him? What a hoot!

Oops. I think that I confused you. I didn't mean to compare the Grand Marquis to the Solara convertible. When I found out that they weren't going to produce the Solara convertible any longer, I purchased a Chrysler Sebring Touring convertible. It's our other car, the Explorer, that I would trade for the GM.

Yes, the BMW 3 Series is a great automobile. That would have been my ultimate choice for a convertible. It would also have been a bit more change.

My reservations included what you mentioned---parts. Still, I'm sure that Ford would have plenty of them for years to come. I haven't completely ruled the car out.
