You talk to the salesman about all the features you want in the car. Then ask which colors they have. He might say they have 1 White, 2 Blue and a 1 Black. Just say "ok", and continue to negotiate. You know the color you want is there, but the salesman is not sure which one you will pick up. Along the way also ask if any color has a premium associated with it or not. Again, the salesman does not know your choice and will be shooting in the dark if he says "Yes". Then you ask him which color is it? Now he is trapped. Should I say White? Or Blue or Black? Chances are to get the deal going on, he will say none have a premium.

Today I stopped by my local BMW dealer, and it just so happen that they just took a 2003 540i in trade. Six speed manual tranny, Sport Package, Cold Weather Package, Topaz Blue/Gray leather. only 75K miles. It's a bit bigger than I like, but it's a very sweet car. Many people think that the E39 5ers are still a better car than its successor the current E60.The '03 Sports also have the M5 body kit. If I can get it for the Mazdaspeed + no more than $2K out the door it will likely be mine. |

First, please tell MACK he's in everyone's thoughts and prayers. I've been following the saga of you Grand Marquis purchase. What are your reservations about owning a car in its last year of production? I'm sure parts are readily & cheaply available. My 2001 Honda Prelude Type SH (October 2001 Build Date) is one of the last Preludes ever made. I've had no part availability problems at all. My only problem is that GENUINE HONDA PARTS are expensive (the 4 "H" logo centercaps were stolen from my wheels & cost almost $50 each).

Richard....yes, if you do contact Mack again, I just want to extend more thoughts and prayers to add to the others here. As soon as I think times are tough for me, personally, I realize it could be a whole lot worse. Hopefully, he comes out of this stronger....better! So, the GM is going away. I know you kind of had your heart set on one. But, if you like the thought of that sort of ride, there are some options. An Avalon would probably fit the bill on the Toyota side. The afore mentioned Buick Lucerne/Lacrosse. Acura TL isn't selling all that well. Nice cars. Many don't like the redesign (I do, though). Someone else mentioned the Ford Taurus....probably the closest "feel" to the GM, but updated with all the most modern safety "stuff". Heck, I bet you could make a whale of a deal on a Lincoln MKZ right now.
