That's what happened to me last year when I was considering the Solara convertible.

That's quite a difference from the GM. Do you have any regrets you didn't get the Solara? If both were still in production which would you prefer? If you like the idea of a convertible, and you like the feel of a sixties type car, then you have to try a BMW 3 Series Cabriolet (hardtop convertible). Not necessarily to buy it, but to just give it a test run. It can't hurt, you are in the market so there should be no guilt about sampling it, even if it isn't suitable it might give you a better idea of what you are really looking for. When I got my first BMW I really didn't expect to buy it...I was very negative about actually buying one, but one test drive and there was no going back.

It also sounds like the advice given to many patrons of District Court. Bring ALL of your brats; they need to get familiar with the place. After all, they will be in Juvenile Court before you know it!

>Nick, I'm surprised at you. I'm going to spend all of that time negotiating for a car, finally tell him the color,

You check the color on the lot / online inventory. But do not tell the salesman. Sorry if my remark was not so clear.

You talk to the salesman about all the features you want in the car. Then ask which colors they have. He might say they have 1 White, 2 Blue and a 1 Black. Just say "ok", and continue to negotiate. You know the color you want is there, but the salesman is not sure which one you will pick up. Along the way also ask if any color has a premium associated with it or not. Again, the salesman does not know your choice and will be shooting in the dark if he says "Yes". Then you ask him which color is it? Now he is trapped. Should I say White? Or Blue or Black?
Chances are to get the deal going on, he will say none have a premium.

Today I stopped by my local BMW dealer, and it just so happen that they just took a 2003 540i in trade. Six speed manual tranny, Sport Package, Cold Weather Package, Topaz Blue/Gray leather. only 75K miles. It's a bit bigger than I like, but it's a very sweet car. Many people think that the E39 5ers are still a better car than its successor the current E60.The '03 Sports also have the M5 body kit. If I can get it for the Mazdaspeed + no more than $2K out the door it will likely be mine.

>Never tell the dealer the auto you are really interested in. Negotiate the price and then ask for vehicle.

That happens everyday....I want a car for $350 monthly payment. What can I get? No....??

Wish Mack the best. I hope that his future treatments are tolerated well and that they lead to a remission or cure. I really love reading the Mack TO BE CONTINUED stories and hope to read many more.

First, please tell MACK he's in everyone's thoughts and prayers.

I've been following the saga of you Grand Marquis purchase. What are your reservations about owning a car in its last year of production? I'm sure parts are readily & cheaply available.

My 2001 Honda Prelude Type SH (October 2001 Build Date) is one of the last Preludes ever made. I've had no part availability problems at all. My only problem is that GENUINE HONDA PARTS are expensive (the 4 "H" logo centercaps were stolen from my wheels & cost almost $50 each).
