Just FYI, there is a forum that caters to your questions. Perhaps a host can post a link.

In response to your question, I would suggest trying to go high-end. If that doesn't work, find a volume store and work on your sales game. Practice makes perfect and you have a lot more practice at high volume stores.

There are negatives that go along with volume, but your main focus should be finding a dealership that has relatively low turnover and gives you a good 'feeling' when you in. Picking a good dealership is more important than picking a good product.

Many high line stores may not hire greenpeas. Low line stores will typically send you to training for a week to get you acclimated.

Put simply, high line stores are typically your best option. Good products, qualified clients with less hours.

Is the Auto Sales Profession for Me? would be a good place to ask.

Unless you were an officer USAA won't touch you.

The do take enlisted now but former service doesn't count.

A former Buck Sergeant..I know.

I'm sorry, isell - it's their loss!

I got in the old fashioned way - my dad was an officer. I'm thankful to both of you for your service to our country.

I always thought it was funny. An enlisted guy could have been shot up in Vietnam or some other god forsaken place, yet a person who never served can get USAA insurance simply because his father happened to be an officer.

I heard this has now changed but they still wouldn't take me. You would think they would be happy to take my money?

Thanks alot for the insight.

I was hoping you would be one of the ones to respond, seeing as how you worked in both types of enviroments. Any tips for the interview in high end dealers?

I thought I would post my question here because I am going to sell cars just hadn't decided which type. Once I do though I will glady contribute stories from the "front lines", which it seems to me that this forum is lacking.

I believe IsellHondas is in the same region as me, Bellevue, WA, if this is so any advice or info. on the local area dealers.

"...I had excellent credit...On the other hand, what car salesman is going to take my word for it?..."

With those fancy Italian shoes and all that bling? How could they ever doubt you?

Good clothing does not necessarily equate good credit.

I regularly get younger clientele in with fancy wear, nice watches and bling chains who unfortunately can't finance a ham sandwich due to horrible credit. They spent their credit (when they had it) and money on looking nice, instead of repaying what is owed.
