Congrats, Jip! While I did not use the "Jipst method" this time around, I feel I still did well and the dealer seemed content with the deal as well.

LOL. I'm pleasantly surprised someone remembered the ole "Jipst method". Just goes to show that with enough advertising you can sell anything (i.e dubya).

Congrats on joining the Mazda family of car owners. My Mazdaspeed MPV and I welcome you... ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM.

Let me get this right. You're bragging because you had no fun and went to bed at 8:00?

Me, I had a great time and woke up in a snow bank.

know how hard you work for the money that you make. You deserve this nice investment.

I wouldn't call a car an investment -- neighbors who overpay for dubious classics aside

How's that for referncing two threads in one post?

Happy 2009 everyone!

...so, I'm not the first - I was out driving my new car earlier today.

It's good to know someone is out there buying a new car these days. Per, you are a patriot. Well, I guess you could be a better patriot if it was a B3 car, but let's not go there. You are stimulating the economy.

My son in law just got a Lexus RX Hybrid which should be nice. He is getting rid of his Suburban. I hated the Suburban and said I won't take him to the airport because I hate driving it and you can't park it anywhere. But, I'll take him to the airport in the new Lexus anytime. He always bought the biggest American car he could afford......now he's even getting a foreign make - and he's getting the hybrid because that's what the kids insisted on. Just shows how much things change and the B3 have lost another customer.

"How's that for REFERNCING two threads in one post?"

That mighty fine---as long as you can spell it.

These days, I call a new car an investment because of what it cost, the maintenance to drive it, and how long you have to keep it to get your money's worth out of it. Investments are usually for the future. In this case, the future could be from 1-20 years. Happy New Year to you as well.

Napelton Hyundai in West Palm Beach has an ad today stating they have "10 left" 2008 Elantra's in stock in the Sun-Sentinel paper. I called earlier and the guy stated he'd look and "call me right back". Two hours go by and I call him back. All of a sudden, they sold the last '08 model of the "10" they advertise. He tells me it was "just sold" which I don't believe. Why on earth didn't he call me back in a reasonable time. Then he proceded to tell me to come in as the '09's have a rebate of a 'few hundred less"...it's $500. less now and I had to tell him that.

This is a prime example of why the public will not trust car dealers. He obviously had no intention of calling me back, he sounded real off balance when I called him back and when I asked why he didn't return my call, he mumbled something I couldn't understand and when I asked him to repeat this...silence! He didn't seem to know his product...hell, I knew more than he did! He also mumbled something unintelligible when I inquired when the "last of the 10" were sold and never got a definite answer on that one.

Who can I call to pursue this obvious fraud to complain about. Writing a letter to the store owner is where I'll start but doubt he'll admit any wrong doing. There must be an organization who deals with consumer fraud besides the better business bureau. This kinda situation really stinks and I'm sure this happens a good part of the time, dealers placing ads for something they don't have. Funny too, cause if they had the car I wanted, I'd a put a deposit down then and there. Why on earth didn't this guy just call me back and give me an honest answer as to when the last couple were sold? Speaks volumes to me about how this dealership runs their operations. Guess they don't teach honesty and integrity to their staff.

Napelton Hyundai in West Palm Beach Florida is a very unethical dealership...buyers beware!!

To be fair it takes time to put together and ad and get in published in a newspaper. Dealerships are in the business of selling cars and they could very well have done that. Now I will admit that selling 10 cars in that period of time might be a stretch of the imagination, but it is possible.

It reminds me of a story that happened a year ago last summer. A friend of mine was looking for a stripped down basic Ford Focus with a manual tranny. Well he walked into a Ford dealership mid week just as they were taking delivery on one that they ordered for a big weekend sales event. This car was to be featured in their big ad on Friday and Saturday (can't sell cars on Sundays), but he drove it off the lot on Thursday. Now when they had the big sales event they didn't have the car that they advertised at a low price. Now do you fault the dealer for actually selling that car when they did?
