Replying to: jmonroe (Dec 30, 2008 9:28 am) I am sure Richard was just being polite...it being the holiday season. I should know better, I once taught school????? |

Replying to: driver100 (Dec 30, 2008 6:24 am) Nope, I gave up smoking in January of 79’. I guess you can say I’m now viceless. On more thing about that “driving experience”; I’m also after that, like not remembering all the bumps in a 600 mile (each way) vacation drive. jmonroe |

I know the sales folks have said that the last week in December is often very busy. In light of the poor economy is this year-end holding up to your expectations? It would be nice if the month finished strong, not only for your pocketbooks but for your attitude going into 2009. So how about it, anybody hit any grand slams?

Replying to: oldfarmer50 (Dec 30, 2008 1:14 pm) With car sales down 30 to 40% lately I doubt the year will finish very strong, but our real car guys will answer that question. But what does surprise me is that this years sales are only 4 or 5% lower than last year......why is that such a disaster? It isn't great, but it isn't the end of the world either. I am getting tired of the doom and gloom. We've had recessions before and we have always recovered.....just have to lower our expectations and spending, and realize that one day you will tell your grandchildren how you did without (had to buy a 50 in LCD instead of 60 in) and survived the Great Depression of 08. |

| In answer to someone's earlier question, yes Lexus started that one maybe a year ago or so? Here. | |

My coworker is buying an Altima now. I coached her a little, mostly to know what the real deals is and what is not (the largest issue with non-informed customers is they have no idea where the lines are and they can be smacked with a great deal and still complain about getting ripped off). Before she started her internet inquiries, I told her she could shoot for something like invoice minus rebates with junk fees already included (pretty much double net) I thought it would be aggressive, but doable considering the market conditions and possible end-of-year bonuses on one hand and her being "laywoman". That was actually the highest offer Wow - even I didn't see that coming. Did not expect to get to tripple net after just couple of days of email exchanges. Must be more unsold inventory out there than I thought. Desperation levels must be hitting new highs. |
