Replying to: jipster (Nov 13, 2008 1:02 pm) No “trick” involved. When I asked him for his phone number so I could get back to him (if I had to) he’s reaching for his wallet. So, I told Mrs. jmonroe to tell the guy on the phone that it’s SOLD. I knew I had that car priced too low; the phone never stopped ringing for three days after the sale. I found out from a couple late callers, that asked what I sold it for, that I didn’t have it priced high enough. Because when they asked what I sold it for and I told them $150, just like my add stated, they said, “I would have given you more”. jmonroe

Replying to: graphicguy (Nov 13, 2008 1:15 pm) "...explorer...buy mine...I'll even take it to Earl Schieb..." "...I'm in competition with another person selling a GM..." "...I'm losing out to someone with a prettier newspaper ad..." "...These old folks are trying to grind me..." GG, whatever business you are in, quit. You should go right into car sales full time. You sound just like the sales guys in here.

Replying to: jmonroe (Nov 13, 2008 2:02 pm) I didn't mean to imply you were b.s-ing the guy. But, whenever it has been said to me, the person saying it had what Judge Judy would call "Roman" eyes. Not judging anyone, but I wouldn't do it. |

Replying to: explorerx4 (Nov 13, 2008 4:23 pm) I would have too, but my model doesn't come in all wheel drive.....I don't think there are any all wheel drive convertibles. My last 3 cars were AWD and my wife's last 2. It is well worth it, if you can do it. |

Replying to: explorerx4 (Nov 13, 2008 4:23 pm) does cost some gas mileage all year round. AWD doesn't help you at all to stop. That's what winter tires are for. A lot of people get over confident with AWD thinking they can drive like they usually do, and they get into trouble. Apologies to our hosts for the off topic, but I felt it was important to clarify this common misconception.

Replying to: oldfarmer50 (Nov 13, 2008 3:24 pm) LOL......you know oldfarmer, you're right. I am starting to sound like a car sales guy. Truth is, if I ever did get into the car sales, I'd probably be fired the first day. I like easy transactions. I don't have the temperament to deal with people who try to slam a good car. Nor, do I have the patience to play games for $100. While I don't buy by grinding, I do have a new found respect for what the sales guys here go through. Some of these people are spending more in gas, than what they'd save. Most are from KY (I'm in OH). It's a 35-40 minute trip, one way, to get from northern KY to where I live. richard...my apologies. I knew someone wanted a black GM. Just didn't remember who. |
