Ok, just caught up to all the posts. Sorry, Duke. You didn't stump many with that classic... Mack, in the words of Ric Emmett and Triumph (the rock group, not the car/motorcycle), "Fight the good fight!" Bon chance, mis ami...(ok, I don't speak or write French). Buena suerte, amigo. (ok, I don't speak or write Spanish). |

People will always use their techniques on us like "your inventory is high, cars aren't moving, nobody wants these gas guzzlers," and so on. On occasion you'll have a goofball come in with a big mouth who has no intention of buying a car, and most likely doesn't own one, and will blame everything on us (dealerships, car industry), and predict that we'll have to shut our doors soon, cause "nobody is buying" our product, and that people are switching from cars to (insert here whatever the flavour of the day is: hybrids, Segways, bicycles, plug in electrics, scooters, hovercrafts, donkeys..whatever). Then when you ask him what he drives, he'll stutter a bit, and quickly make something up and spit it out. And I'm thinking, buddy, I can tell you're full of it by the way you just answered that. Usually a rookie ups ends up with someone like this, and the goofball whino will spit out 5 minutes of above said rant, in an escalating voice as he heads out the door to his imaginary car. |

Replying to: boomchek (Jul 12, 2008 3:38 pm) I just hate it when a customer tries to justify a stupid offer by telling me how bad the economy is, how we're in a recession etc. Usually the same person with the 150,000 mile Expidition that wants "book" value for it when it isn't worth half that much. They pull in on a hot summer day with the windows down. " Oh is your air conditioning not working?" " Yeah, it probabaly just needs a charge" It has 150,000 miles!" " Oh, but they are all freeway miles" " You know, the gas mileage really isn't all that bad"...RIGHT! Then they will tell me how they see them "going" on Craig's List for 8000.00. This is when they start telling me how bad things are in the US and hw they are getting worse.

" Oh, but they are all freeway miles" Oh, how I love this one. " Hmm, highway miles...Is that 2 lane or 4 lane? Gravel or paved?" "going" on Craig's List for 8000.00. Oh, they are? Well go home turn your computer on and punch the button. What button? You know the one that prints the check for that amount and spits it out the back. Sorry but with people like these, my sarcasm tends to run a bit thick. |

Has temporarily lost it's usual number one spot to the Hyundai Genesis forum. They are starting to hit the dealerships and reviews, Edmunds and posters have been positive.I have to admit, it's a good looking automobile. I think they may have picked a rotten time for the introduction.Their MSRP + goals may start to fade within six months. Probably lots of leases to start. As an aside, went to school in G'ville Fl, (go gators) and went with some friends one evening to a local watering hole called the Longbranch Saloon. They had this local band playing that night called Mudcrutch. Weird name I thought but ok, we'll pay the $2 cover. The band was pretty decent but the lead singer had a great voice. A guy by the name of Tom Petty. His father was a insurance broker in the area. This was of course a few years before he packed his bags for LA and struck it rich with the Heartbreakers.Winwood & Petty, That's a show and a half ! Keeping on multiple topics : Everybody's desperate trying to make ends meet Work all day, still can't pay the price of gasoline and meat Alas, their lives are incomplete Level = tough except for laurasdada darn it. |
