Being ambushed is not very nice of people. Last night I was talking to a Navy couple about the new Sequoia. They have the previous gen which they bought in Charleston SC. They didn't want to test drive so I offered to show them the interior. We looked at a Platinum and they asked for my card and asked if I was working Sunday as it was his next day off. I told them I was not scheduled this Sunday. I told him to give me a call when it would be more convenient as I would like to take care of them being we are "salt brothers" They agreed and then left. It was about 5 minutes till closing and just as I was locking the Sequoia, an 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer that being hit more times than Muhammad Ali was stopped behind the Corollas. I asked the guy if he needed any help as we were about to close. He starts asking me all kinds of questions: "Which is the cheapest car you guys make besides the Corolla.?" he asks. "That would be the Yaris and also the Scion xD." I told him. "No there's another one. I can't remember the name." he says. "You're probably thinking of the Echo." I tell him. "Yeah, that's it." he responds. "That car was discontinued back in 2005." I tell him. "How much do you think I can get for my car?" he asks. "How much are you looking to get?" I ask. "I want 4 grand for it." he tells me. "Unless you have 3 grand or 3500 in the glove compartment, you won't get much for it." I tell him. The car looks like the paint job was done by a blind man with a brush. The rear bumper is falling off and the right side has a bunch of putty and pink paint on it. (The car si some shade of pewter) He doesn't like my answer on the "trade" and then asks me if Huey is working tonight. "You know Huey?" I ask. "Yeah, I talk to him every time I come by." he tells me. "Really? He's gone for the day and I'm on my way home too. Have a good night. If you have any questions give Huey a call." Mack

If you will deliver my car to North Carolina, I'll cook you some Eastern Style Bar-B-Q---with good old vinegar and hot sauce. I'll cook some baby back ribs and corn bread with onion, red peppers, and bell pepper to put on the side. For dessert, I'll fix a banana pudding topped with hot fluffy egg whites and melting chocolate chips. Take an antacid tablet before you arrive. Too bad about isellhondas. He'll miss a good thing. Gotta go. I'm starving. Richard

Replying to: boomchek (Jul 11, 2008 2:06 pm) Those summer ferry lineups were murder when I was there, & I'm sure they're worse now. Kept my boat about a mile from Horseshoe Bay for quite awhile. Howe Sound is probably the most beautiful piece of North America that I've ever visitied, and I've visited most of it. Either way, delivering a car represents the kind of service that generates long-term loyalty -- pretty much a lost concept in the part of the continent I occupy. |
