We started talking about it, and come to find out he got that frame buyout offer from Toyota for his old Toyota truck. IIRC, he mentioned that they gave everyone the Excellent KBB tradein value, plus some other $$'s incentive to buy him out. He didn't get another Toyota only because they didn't make whatever model he wanted in manual stick version, so took the cash and bought elsewhere.

However, once, when I went to the junk yard to scrounge some parts for it I saw a row of similar trucks which were all there because the frames had rotted out.   The engines were all in good shape though.
