Dishonest customers are such a pia. You start out with an attitude of I trust you, you trust me and then the bond is broken with a oh btw.Yeah it does affect the bottom line. If the trade in is important, say so. If you really don't know what you want , say so.If you're a kid shopping for your father and you don't have a clue what you want much less your old man.Go away, far far away.

So as sure as the sun will shine
I'm gonna get my share now what is mine
And then the harder they come

Plzsner Urquell, brewed in Plzsen CZ, hmm Pilsner? Maybe in 500 years they got it right? Despite the Dutch raiding eastern europe in the 15th century and stealing all their vowels resulting in them having 4 breath intersections leaving poor eastern europe to have to spell richard, rchrd. They do know how (cz) to brew a beer.

I'm a major shareholder in Boston Beer: 33 shares! Shoulda bought a lot more shares (instead of spending the $$$ on the product)!

Don't know that anyone can make any statement that business is up with the cars.

Taking a survey of the ads in the newspaper tells me it's super slow.

That, in and of itself, tells me traffic in dealerships must be down.

More telling, when I was helping my friend look at vehicles, the local Toyota dealership was offering discounts on Highlander Hybrids. In fariness, they were getting MSRP on Camry hybrids and Prius'.

The horizon will eventually change. Will it be quick enough to save brands? Will it be quick enough to save some of the smaller dealerships?

Who knows?

deskman....I know you have to promo your wares, but I'm skeptical that Chryco has any firm footing, regardless of what they may, or may not, have coming down the pike. Their problems are the immediate future. Not next model year.

GM has a few "hits" on their hand....the Malibu, CTS, to name two. Buick seems hopelessly lost, still. Pontiac has the new G8, and the new Vibe. But, what else?

Ford....same deal. Who would have thought the Focus would gain traction again, for example? But, it has.

Chrysler? Is Jeep selling anything, at all? Dodge has the Challenger. But, even that car could be a dead cat bounce.

It's a simple case of some manufacturers having the wrong product mix, at the wrong time. It could take years for them to reverse the trend with new products fit for the times.

There's another crisis looming, too. What's GM, Ford and Chryco going to do with all those big iron lease deals coming off lease? They certainly aren't going to be worth anything remotely what their buyouts say they are.

Personally, I ususally trade every 3 years. On my Tahoe, that won't be financially attractive, at all. I may as well drive it until the wheels fall off. Good vehicle. Very well made. But, at two years old, it's worth exactly 1/3 (if that) of what it stickered for right now.

"I would except (sic) that from a consumer..."

I am glad that you would ACCEPT that from a consumer. You are a good salesman because you are kind to your elders.

"Had two customers on Saturday, one a referral the other couple looking for their son."

Did they find their son? Did you lock him up in a trunk?

Let's finish the Jim Gridell story. It's time to close the file on that one.

Unless you are keeping notes on the "To Be continued" saga's.... you've got a pretty good memory richard. Unless they are completed within the first day or two from the first post, they are deleted from my memory banks.

I called it an extended warranty once and I thought the JM&A guy was going to choke me.

OK, that’s a new one for me. I know F&I ain’t a swear word but I never heard of JM&A and I’ve hung out here for a while. Could that be jmonroe&associates?

EDIT: I forgot to mention... JM&A is in direct competition with TJ (teamjipster) and you get a better deal with us.

I can tell you haven’t kept up with the changes in the car biz.

They do that now in lieu of throwing your keys on the roof. Yields better results.

I wish that I could take credit for the good memory. I was reading the posts that I missed while we were in Florida. I ran across the name of the guy. Like you, I forget the stories after a day or two.

I'm not as concerned with my memory as I am with my cognitive processes. It seems here lately that I can't seem to understand some of the posters---like Deskman and Duke and a couple of others. I'm not being critical of them; it's me. I think that I'm not keeping up with the 21st Century language patterns. I purchased new cell phones yesterday, and I couldn't follow the lingo of the saleslady. These phones have cameras, surf the internet, calculate math problems, text message, play music, have speaker systems, etc. My head was spinning by the time I left the store. I'm trying to read the manual to learn how to use them. Old age is hell. The person who coined the term "Golden Age" must have been 20 years old.

To stay on topic: I'm afraid that my next car will be so technically advanced that I won't be able to drive the damn thing.

Richard
