Replying to: joel0622 (Jun 09, 2008 2:49 pm) Do all the kids in TN go to school in August or just the ones that weren't paying attention from September through May? We here in the Burgh area are due for a return to normal temp. (low to mid 80's) by the end of tomorrow. We've had low to mid 90's for 4 days now. Today while coming home on the PA Turnpike my car outside thermometer said 95 while cruising at 70 MPH. When I was stopped in traffic about a mile from home it read 98 but that was radiated heat from the road, my car and other cars but still that is what it was to the joggers going by. Now those people are nuts. jmonroe

Then there's the fact that the desert or other southern areas with hellish summer weather routinely get to deal with it when the days are longest. Up north, the bad weather is accompanied by short days. In the summer, while there are rainy and/or humid days, many are very pleasant. . .and long. You'll not be surprised to hear that the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce doesn't ask me for comments. |

I went outside and was actually cold this evening. A cool front went through to the north and it's down to 75. It's been 90s here today and was in 90s down in JoelCountry for an extended weekend. We drove a car to get there and back. Was Lamar Alexander the Secretary of Education Bush brought from Texas. That one had done a wonderful job increasing the dropout rate in the county schools so GW brought him to Washington. |

100F heat or -20F with a foot of snow any day... but not hail and/or a tornado

You are now officially excused from making crazy comments here. There is something wrong with a place that has 120 even 140 degree temperature swings. Its just gotta affect ya. jmonroe |

Replying to: snakeweasel (Jun 09, 2008 5:48 pm) That’s true. When I lived in S. C. one time when it started to snow (never got more than a ½ an inch that day), while Mrs. jmonroe was in the grocery store she couldn’t imagine why the store had become so crowded so fast. When she commented to one of the other shoppers about the crowd the woman said, “how long have you been in here, didn’t you see it’s starting to SNOW”? When watching the 11 PM news from Augusta that night, I noticed that there wasn’t a telephone pole in that city that didn’t have a pickup truck helping to hold it upright. jmonroe
