Did not go ahead and change the brakes.

I really don't like the heat, but I guess they would appreciate me finishing the job and getting that car off those stands.

I worked with a guy back in the 70’s who had a next door neighbor who left his car on jack stands overnight. Just like you his intentions were good but the auto parts didn’t have the hold down pins that he realized were bad when he started to do the rear brakes so the guy had to leave it there because he didn’t want to replace the rusted pins just to move the car into the garage. Thereby having to do the brake job twice.

This prankster co-worker jacked the car up and set the drums on a couple 2x6 at 2 AM. He said he broke into a cold sweat as he was lowering the last drum to the wood. You see, that’s when he remembered that his neighbor was a great outdoors man and almost always hit what he was aiming at.

First thing the following Sunday morning his neighbor came over and told him about the car being on 2x6’s and wanted to know if he had heard anything during the night? When he told him what he had done his neighbor said, “I thought you knew better than to do something like that. At that hour in the morning I’d have shot, looked to see if I dropped it, then gone out in the morning to identify if it was a head or body hit”

Believe it or not he said he’d never do something like that again.

FWIW, I routinely replaced the hold down pins when I did a brake job on those old cars. There is no sense in having new shoes fall into the drums at highway speeds and ruin your day and the drums. Now, if this co-workers neighbor had bought all the parts before starting the job he would have prevented my co-worker having a cold sweat.

How many BMWs have that new Climate Cool glass that came out a few years ago? Some of the highest spec range rovers have it now and it really does make a big difference.

The 335i droptop I drove for a couple of weeks had a special coating on the leather seats that kept them cool even in direct sunlight. BMW calls it "Sun-Reflective Technology" and it works quite well in my experience.

> I have 8 customers a month that lie, waste my time, and get mad at me for things out of my control.
3. Their bad credit is my fault. [one of my favorites]

Those are the same people the local media is having lots of articles how someone made them buy a house that they could never hope to afford on a mortgage that the agent faked them into signing. It's everyone else's fault.

Now they've lost their house to foreclosure and they want the taxpayer to buy them another one and feel sympathy.

The rafts need 4 wheels and a motor for the discussion. How can we work that in?

With all the ongoing talks about how the color of a car affects the temperature of a car, I can't resist posting the first couple of paragraphs from a article out Boston.com.... They are writing a article about how Conn. schools are closing early do to the temperatures being in 90's...

Here it is

HARTFORD, Conn.—Dozens of schools districts across Connecticut closed early Monday as temperatures topped 90 degrees for the second consecutive day.

more stories like thisThe National Weather Service issued heat and air quality advisories for much of the state. The city of Hartford also opened free cooling stations so people could find relief from the sweltering heat.

"Literally, you could cook an egg off the hood of a black car today. It just takes the starch out of you," said Jim Cordier, director of social and health services for nearby East Hartford, which opened a cooling station for senior citizens

Now that's a knee slapper

Land Rover had a video where they cooked an egg on the hood of a LR2 during extreme temperature testing.

It finishes off with this very British engineer scrapping the egg off the hood, putting it on a sandwich and saying, "During testing our engineers get very hungry."

My Wife's library was shut down today because of the heat so she got a day off.

shutting down by qbrozen

I can't believe places of business and schools are shutting down. Its only JUNE! What the heck will happen in July? We'll just shut those places down for the rest of the summer. How's that?

We were out yesterday and noticed a car sitting idling in the parking lot of a strip mall. I assume because the owner wanted the AC to continue to run while he/she was doing her/his shopping. I couldn't help but wonder: at what temperature does the much-complained-about cost of gas suddenly become less important? And, on the flip side of that, how much does gas need to cost for people to suffer a few minutes of discomfort while driving before their car heats up or cools down to their desired temperature?

If it was (AC) left on to keep a pet cool, I applaud them. If it was left on so they would not cook their little a$$ then I pity them.

Did they say this was with one or two top coats of Zaino?

Seriously, I've seen similar type tests. Kinda scary when you think about it.
