"Toyota disagrees with you: "

Ummm, not sure if you meant to paste in a comment from Toyota? You pasted in my original comment instead.

The HH and Escape are both available in FWD models. I almost bought a FWD Escape myself last year...

Scroll down to drivetrain.... FWD is N/A.

The escape, though, does come with FWD.

"Scroll down to drivetrain.... FWD is N/A. "

I was going by Edmunds, but I just realized that they were referring to the 2007 model.

I'm not surprised that they went to AWD on all models; using electric motors instead of a transmission is very weight-effective, so it doesn't have the MPG penalty of a traditional AWD SUV setup.

"The escape, though, does come with FWD."

Which goes back to my original point about the Vue not being the only hybrid SUV out there with FWD...

2007 VUE Greenline-Exchange vehicle? by saabski

Hello all, I have an offer of $21,995 plus TT&L for 2007 VUE Greenline. It's a dark blue with comfort package and window tint. $3,000 off MSRP of $24,995. Also, this is an "exchange" vehicle where a previous owner drove it less than 3,000 miles and traded it in (or exchange) for another Saturn. Has anybody heard of this program before? Good thing is that this program lets it qualify for new car financing plus GM's stellar 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty!
Also, is $21,995 a fair price for 2007? I know that there's a $3,000 rebates, but it seems like I could ask for more off (even though Saturn is a no-haggle price dealer).

Any input would be appreciated.

Saturn has a Vehicle Exchange Program. If you are not completely satisfied with your new Saturn vehicle, you'll have 30 days or 1,500 miles from delivery, whichever comes first, to exchange it for another same model year Saturn vehicle. Obviously, the vehicle must be returned in the condition in which it was delivered. Any vehicle returned will be inspected for damage and excessive wear and tear. If non-warranty repairs equal to or greater than $300 have been performed or are necessary, the vehicle is not eligible to be returned. If less than $300, the damage repair estimate will be deducted from the refund/credit.

Understand the vehicle you are considering is no longer a new vehicle.

If someone has returned a Vue Greenline it is for a good reason. Most likely they had many problems with possibley more to come. I also have a 2007 Vue hybrid but unfortunately I only put around 800 miles mile per month on it and my many troubles didn't start until 1,100 miles -- too late to return it under their program.

Solar Charging of Vue GreenLine-Opinions??? by chmsomm

This is an email I sent to Saturn:

This is a technical question for someone working with Saturn's Hybrid Vehicles.

I currently own a 2007 Saturn Vue GreenLine. Great gas mileage. 26-28 mpg in my 26 mpg roundtrip commute.

There are currently solar chargers available on the retail market (2-5W) that can be plugged in to cigarette lighters to keep automobile batteries charged. Very inexpensive. $20-30. I was thinking of using one of these when my Vue GreenLine is parked to assist in keeping the battery pack fully charged, and therefore fully available for use in the assist mode.

I have used small portable panels to charge 12v car batteries that I use for powering 12v astronomy equipment during the day (for night time use when I am in the field). They work reasonably well. In other words, they actually do help charge a free-standing car battery during a 8-10 hr day.

1. Would one of these panels work with my Vue GreenLine to charge the existing battery pack during the day?

2. Is the Vue GreenLine electical system compatable for this type of charging?

Thanks

To Chmsomm:

Check out what Greenroger has done on the other thread "Saturn VUE Green Line - Real World MPG Numbers". Apparently, he has been experimenting with a solar charger with promising results. He might even convince me to give it a try. (At a cost of less than $100 - 2+ mpg increase, with 30,000 miles driven a year and gas at $1.85 per gallon - I would breakeven after a year.)

As far as Saturn answering your question - lots of luck. They still have yet to answer my simple question which was how many 2007 Saturn Hybrid Vues were sold?
