#1 of 5 Adding leather to 2006 Civic EX Coupe by khls97

Hello,

I'm in the Chicago area looking to add leather to my 2006 Civic EX when I get it.

Does anyone have any pictures to show and/or places they've been for this? How much was it?

Secondly, will heated seats work as well or will it drain the battery? Is it okay to have the interior illumination and heated seats?

All help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

#3 of 5 Specifically buying Civic Si to avoid leather .. by midnightcowboy

I am buying a Civc Si because I don't want leather. It is cold in the winter and hot in the summer. The upper level luxury cars are adding cooling and heating to compenaste for the eeficeicines of leather.

Some time ago. 25 years or so, leather was considered a luxury upgrade. the Vinyl was terrible and the cloth at the time wore out quickly.

Leather just isn't what it is cracked up to be ( unless you Liberallly apply leather conditioner).

I didn't realize how bad leather really was, I had been adding it as an option to cars since 1979, until I bought a car off the lot that had Alcantra leather in 2001 ( like suede) instead of traditioanl leather. That car is so, so much more comfortable on cold winter and hot summer days.

Even though I could afford a lot higher priced car, I am buying a 2006 Honda Civic Si because it is a great car, has performance, has handling, is very fun to drive, gets good mileage, and is cool in the summer and warm in winter.

Leather is not a good solution at all.

Did you ever get any info about changing to leather in a Civic? We have an '04 EX auto sedan, and having seen your posting, I think I'll phone for a price. There's an excellent auto upholsterer I know of in my area. Alternatively, I might ask about MB-tex. I had a '94 C280 with that, and after 10 years it was indiscernable from brand new. The door panels would need it as well. I don't think I'm too serious, though, because the whole '04 looks like new including the gray cloth upholstery, and I don't want to have to keep the car forever.
