Replying to: paulad (Apr 22, 2008 4:51 am) NOTE: to the dealer's credit, they said it the shifter assembly did not solve the problems, they would place an electronic monitor/recorder on the car so that when the problem occurs, it would be recorded. Jacques |

Replying to: paulad (Apr 21, 2008 4:47 am) Will this car be a collectable? Probably. But you're talking 20-25 years down the before there is any appreciable increase in value. It's a limited edition car, but it won't be increasing in price for quite a while. Do you remember the people that bought Buick Grand Nationals with thoughts of them increasing in value. Right now the Grand Cherokee SRT 8's are probably dropping in value due to the gas prices. Unless you are absolutely attached to the car love it and can't think of parting with it don't keep it as a collectible with the thought of making money on it. If you figure the cost of keeping it for 20 years (insurance; storage; maintenance), it doesn't make fiscal sense. You're better off selling the car now and then buying another one in 15 years when the value is probably at the bottom. You can count the number of cars that can be purchased new and kept as a collectible on half of the fingers on one hand. Unless you purchased an Enzo or some other very limited model, even most Ferrari's or other exotic cars don't increase in value for many years. A year or two ago I'd have suggested that you to put your money in the stock market or in a CD for 15 years and then go buy the car, but these days those aren't doing so well either. Maybe cars are the best investment after all.... |

An update . . . It has been a month since my dealer ordered the shift assembly for my Jeep SRT8. Why so long? The dealer tells me that it is because Jeep is likely trying to redesign the part so that it works. Apparently, at least 600 jeep SRT8s have reported a similar problem and these Jeeps need the revised part. Meanwhile, there is some risk from loss of power at a bad time resulting in an accident. I sure hope that this issue is solved soon. Comments anyone? |

Hi, cna you tellme what your original problem was? I had a loss of power issue...they said it was just a loss transmission wire--i no longer have the loss of pwer --but it still kind of jerks when I accelorate...can you tell me what you problem was and what did they tell you about the shift assembly?

Replying to: paulad (May 23, 2008 6:48 am) Meanwhile, the problem has not recurred since the part was ordered. I will try to keep everyone informed. If you don't hear from me, it is because I have no new information. While waiting, I will continue to discuss the problem with Chrysler-Jeep. Jacques |
