Hi Hobokid. Well, I can't say that my brakes have never squeaked. I think they may have once or twice but not the last 1,000 miles. (I currently have 3,000 miles on car.) So, this does not seem to be an issue with me. Did the squeaking occur after the brakes got wet? I hope this helps a little. If your squeaking is excessive, it is not normal.

Of course, I'm the one that has an issue with the uneven wear on the front rotors/disks. Have you seen this on yours? I'm trying to solve this rather than blindly replacing rotors and pads.

Dual Exhaust Uneven Temperature by guertin

After my engine has reached normal maximum temperature (about 10 minutes?), I noticed that the driver-side exhaust pipe is much hotter than the passenger-side exhaust pipe. Also, there seems to be more exhaust gas from the driver-side pipe. This is consistent with dripping water from the driver-side exhaust pipe (more combustion product) when you first start the engine.

Has anyone noticed this on their SRT8s? If so, any ideas of the cause and possible fix (if needed). My dealer seems to think that it is of no concern. They suggested that the pipe lengths are not the same and will dissipate heat differently. That seems a little weak. The Daimler-Jeep representative does not have an answer.

I don't think the uneven exhaust flow at idle is unusual for any vehicle. It could simply be the way exhaust gases are directed at low RPM's. The dripping water is just normal condensation and there is probably none out of the hotter pipe as it's vaporized before it gets to the end of the pipe. I'm guessing that when you nail it, everything is pretty much equal. Truthfully, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hey, quertin: Actually my brakes had stopped squeeking, and my front and rear rotors seem to be ok. I have another issue that no one so far can figure out, how the heck do you turn on the rear fog lamps located on bumper, HELP?

Hi Hobokid.
I'm sorry for taking so long to reply. It seems that no one knew the answer to your question. Well, I have the answer!

According to Daimler-Chrysler, the rear lights in the lower facia don't work in the United States. They are for Europe! They are left there because it is cheaper to do so and most folks like their looks.

Now, I understand that Daimler-Chrysler is working on a fix for my front brake problem (uneven wear, groves in rotor). I hope they solve it before my warranty runs out. The brake dust is annoying but I can live with it if it means best performance.

You said that your front rotors are OK. Are you sure? Please check. Look for a phonograph record look and feel the rotor surface with you finger. Let me know.

Fellas, I am having similar problems. Brake dust it a b*tch!! I live in Germany and the rear fog lights can be connected but it costs around $220 at the dealers. There are parts missing for american SRT8's. I also have excessive sound coming from the front brakes. It doesnt happen all the time just when I brake slow. It has to be the dust. After a good wash, i dont get the sound.

Also, the exaust does not exit evenly. My dealer does not see this as a problem either because they are connected at the same point of exit from the engine. I have never checked once at full throttle...no one can keep up!!! LOL

Even with these little problems, this Black 2007 Jeep SRT8 is still the badest thing on the road. In Europe, these cats don't have a clue about it. I've spanked Audi's, BMW's, VW's,...you name it. All I have to do is hold on...the HEMI does the rest!!

Holla,

You could really drive 'em nuts by removing the JEEP emblems from the hatch & hood. I did, and a lot of guys ask, " What kinda car is that?". Carefully, using a hair dryer, heat each letter and lift off with a non-metallic pry. Wood is good. A little polish on the spot and you're ready to fly.
I wish I were in Ger. so that I could open it up on the BAHN. I only took mine up to 120 mph, gotta watch for the men in blue.

SRT Group II - HID headlamps, heated second row seats, now includes the rear seat video system, automatic leveling lights.
Navigation is now Chryslers MyGiG system, 20 gig hardrive, sirius radio, and touch screen nav, all in one.
Colors so far will remain, Red Rock, Steel blue, Black, and Silver. No pricing available as of yet. Pretty sure they can be ordered but no word on when you'll actually see them.

..."now includes the rear seat video system..."

I'm sure they'll raise price on these option packages, especially opt 2 as it includes the foresaid video system and new HID lights. Were looking at 47-48 large for fully loaded ones now for sure.
