Replying to: austin442 (May 10, 2009 8:11 pm) Sounds like broken wire running from the relay to the fuel pump.   The blue relay could be wipers, headlight motors or rear defroster. See if they work.   Certainly it's not the ignition coil. Replying to: austin442 (May 17, 2009 8:29 pm) Doh! I had it set in my mind your 84 was the same generation as my 88 Accord.   The ignition and fuel pump circuits are quite different between the two.

Replying to: tjrr (May 27, 2009 4:21 am) no i had no issues with the tac. but now less than 20 miles later it started to kill again thius had been a issue in the past but had subsided in the last while. under a whole new set of ways. when i am driving or whenever the car will kill about once every three miles. and more often when it is cold. i can crank it over all i want and it will not start but if i turn the car completely off and then crank it over it starts right up. i was suspicious of the vac lines but when i looked at them they all seam to be in great shape. there is one vacuum operated item mounted on the distributor that has gunk all over it could that be part of the issue? where else could i look?

Hi all,   I had a bad thermostat, with lead to run with no water, broke the radiator so I over heated the engine.... Now the engine as a big loss of power but I don't see any sign of blown head gasket. The car does not smoke white, no unsual color on the spark plugs or sign of water in the engine. I cannot find out what is wrong. Anyone had a suggestion?   thx a lot

My accord has over 200,000 miles on it. Just replaced alternator and battery 2 to 3 months ago and alternator is going out again. Battery light on dash is coming on and staying on. The alternator is a new, not rebuilt one. (Not a Honda brand) When I take the alternator in to have it checked on the machine it runs in the normal range and when I put back into car it sucks the life out of battery. The battery posts are clean, the connector wires to the battery have been replaced. What the car does as I'm driving is to loose power and I have to keep my foot on the gas at stoplights and if I have to make a sudden stop or slow down quickly (I.E. commuter traffic) it will die right there. What I don't get is why was I able to drive my car for approx 2 years before the 1st alternator went out and the 2nd doesn't last 3 months? Replying to: 88accord1 (Feb 03, 2007 6:34 pm) could be the pump in the gas tank going bad , this happened to me , my 92 accord kept dying at any fast stop , so I replaced the tank altogether and had no problems after that . The tank was a used one from the junk yard for $50.00 dollards .

Replying to: sueb5 (Jul 04, 2009 7:08 pm) just bought a new one myself from RockAuto on line and it`s draining the battery in my 88 accord too ,Iam going to put back the orignal and have the new one checked out also this weekend and I`ll let you know what comes of it .
