She is still partial to Mercedes though and has loved our past vehicles. We just turned in our 2003 ML350 Inspiration edition. It was a really great car. I loved the looks of it and it drove great. These cars, especially the GL, feel so solid when behind the wheel. I would really miss that if we went for the Lexus. As soon as I told my dealer that I was considering a Lexus he immediately came down in price not wanting to lose a long time customer. I called back the Lexus guy to see if he would come down as well, but he replied that the "price is where it needs to be" (about 1k over invoice). This kind of ticked me off. The Mercedes dealer seems to be bending over backwards to keep my business and the Lexus guy seems to care less if I buy or not. I seriously doubt that I will ever get the GL for cheaper than the GX. Not with the options I want anyway. The GL I am considering is a Peuter/Black GL with the Premium package, & trailer hitch for about 61k *875/mo lease (3 year / 15k miles/yr.) Were also thinking about the Macadamia interior but are worried about it holding up with young kids in the car. Anyway, I'll post my decision when its all finalized. I need to complete this soon because there are only 24 more hours left in the month and they are really dealing right now.

A key point you have missed in your comparison between both is the reliability, but I suppose since it is a lease you really don't have to worry too much about long term reliability and resale value. One thing that surprised me about my 1999 M class was the huge depreciation that I had to take when I sold it.

In that case GL maybe the way to go, I think GL is much more advanced technologically and with much more features. I am tempted to upgrade from my Landcruiser to GL, but I want wait and see until I get more news about the Lexus LX470/Landcruiser replacement. I will most likely get the diesel GL320 CDI. Tini

| Well, I've been waiting and looking, and now Acura is coming out with the MDX-X which is supposed to be a bit larger than the MDX. It's certainly going to be priced better than the GL, but it too will be a new model. The GL does what I want it to do, but the price is high with the add-ons. Also why are they taking so long with the 320? I at least have discounted the Lexus suv's because they are so truck-like. I have every reason to believe the Acura will be reliable. I have had a number of MB's in my life and they are all still alive and well long after I was done with them! What's a person to do? | |
MDX-X ? Is that a long wheel base MDX? The new MDX looks smaller than the current model. One thing that I don't like about the current MDX is the back reast of the middle (second)row seat. They stop about four inches below the shoulder and you have to keep the headrest all the way up. Very uncomfortable for long trips. Also the towing capacity is only 3500 lbs.
