Guys........jae & lemko by rockylee

I appreciate the advice guys. I'm at that point now where I gotta take anything. I have a interview Wednesday and it's going to be a $9.00 job to start through a temp agency with Perrigo Company. I worked through this temp agency back in 99' for $8.00 and got full-time status a month later at $9.93 which would now goup to $12.60 an hour.
The biggest obstacle is my ex-wife to be has destroyed my credit making those jobs requiring credit checks well lost oppertunity's even though my national security clearance is still current until November. I guess they do not look any further to find out the reason why ??????

I probably don't have the skills, education, and work experience like both of you guys. Going on 7 years I've carried firearms for my bread and butter and that's my specialty. I however would be happy getting a job like at Delphi, if I could get an apprenticeship. A college education with a major like in "business administration" doesn't pay squat like it did in years past unfortunately.

The Delphi, bonuses are a bunch of crap. They just got some last year as $78 million was distributed around at the top. I guess the top dogs are still eating well while the small fry are getting scraps.

Did you ever think about becoming a police officer? Of course that credit thing might be a problem there. Not only do we have to do something about the outsourcing of manufacturing in this country, but some serious revision of the current divorce laws. I've seen too many men's lives destroyed by vindictive ex-wives. This is definately the reason I remain unmarried. My girlfriend pressures me sometimes until I cite the sad statistics.

Yeah lemko, but you got to have a department willing to sponsor you pal. We had 18,000 ex police officer's looking for work in 2006 thus their is strong competition for every opening. Unless you want to live in Detroit, which has many area's less safe than the streets in Bagdad, you can't get a sponsorship to get MCOLES certified. I've put in for several law enforcement type jobs but the competition is unfortunately just tough pal. The bottom line is Delphi, is now talking about shutting down a plant in Wisconsin and laying off 200 meaning those folks will have preference and recall rights when ever Delphi's Wyoming, Mi. plant hires. They got to call back the elgible Coopersville, workers first shattering any hope of working their any time soon.

Lemko, only if you knew what I'm going through pal in my divorce. At least you appear to have a very good women and she is marriage material.

Yeah, I was actually going through school to finish off the BS when I was between jobs and landed at the gen-set place. I was lucky to have that position and then I lucked up and found the position I'm in now. The BS I was obtaining and then later on dual Masters Degree didn't really help at the gen-set place, but my past experience in the industry helped. So it was a give-take but paid the bills for a few months until I landed here. And the whole divorce thing, unfortunately I can't help there either (hell I can't keep a steady GF).

You're right about the BA, unless it has "M" in front you won't even be looked at. And it's getting to the point you better not just have a cookie-cutter one MBA. There better be some type of specialization / concentration attached.

I hope the interview today works out for you. Maybe you can get a doing security at Delphi.

Again, it'll beat being without a gig. And who says you have to stay, use this as a temp then move on to something better.

Anyway, first your Lios lose to Philly (it was those uniforms; blinded and made the Lions sick) and now UAW striking:

Yeah, I'm having a rough couple of days. The UAW, is fighting for their lives against corporate greed. Until the large unionized company's like the Big 3 & UAW fight against these free trade laws and elect a guy like Dennis Kucinich, who is pro american labor their isn't much hope for this country. We are a nation in decline.

Those Eagles Jersey's were indeed ugly but that's still no excuse to lose like they did.

That's what I think the real issue is, with the corporate greed. I think the UAW doesn't want to end up like the pilots / stewardess and mechanics from the airline industry. These people were point-blank drained of everything, while the execs got nice bonuses and raises for "stopping the bleeding and making the numbers". There were no sacrifices, no benefits lost on the exec; it was all on the workers, those that survived the lay-offs & down-sizings (or "right-sizing" as they later called it). There were still huge losses but because the losses where less than they were the year previous, they made the grade, got the money.

That's a bunch of bull ka-ka!!

And as you know, until it happens to you, you don't know how it feels to go through that crap-o-la!! I went through it with Exide (GNB Division) and there were tons of people that wanted (and still want) the execs heads on platters. Man am I glad to be outta that place
