Can you get Michelin Pilot Primacy HP ZP (run flats) in the USA?
I run a late UK spec. 2005 E91 320d SE with standard suspension and 205/55R16 wheels.
I've been through Continetal Premium Contact SSR's which are as bad as any description found on this long thread. Dead at 14K miles but really needed replacign at 9K miles. I ran standard Continetal Premium Contact 2 for 20K miles and it was a different car.
I now have these Michelin's and all the time the outside temperature is above about the 45DegF mark they are virtually as good as a standard tyre. Sadly for me it means 3-5 months of the year I get tram-lining and some skittish behaviour in the colder months of the year.

Goodyear NCT 5 EMT's are meant to be fairly reasonable too.

Yes, Michelin Pilot Primacy HP ZPs are available in the US but Michelins are overpriced compared to all other brands here.

I ended up getting Goodyear Eagle GT non-run-flat tires, and a can of Fix-A-Flat. Most people say the can does work if you need it, and the manufacturer says it is safe for tire pressure sensors. I will get a second can because some people say one can can be not enough. A can is only $5... I would use it even if I had a spare tire because changing a wheel in traffic is no fun, nor is it safe.

Compared to the previous Continental runflats, the Goodyears are noticeably quieter and softer. They may grip better, but I can't say that for sure yet. We haven't had any rain yet here.

I bought the Goodyears at 25% off special offer at Sears. That made the price the same as at tirerack.com. The shipping charges, delay, and hassle make tirerack not worth it, when local places have "4 for 3" sales, which they do regularly.

Usually Sears offers a treadwear warranty. I have claimed on this successfully with an Audi A4 in the past. This time, Sears offered no treadwear warranty supposedly because the tires are being discontinued. I don't see the logic of that, but oh well. The tires and the price are still good.

hal56 - just curious, do you have an xi and do you have the Sport Pkg? My RFTs are shot at 9,500 miles. I am religious about checking the air pressure and I do not drive the car excessively hard.

Curious,,,I wonder if BMW has changed their policy regarding OEM, Bridgestone vs Continental? You didn't say whether your car has the sport package even though some would say "emasculated" sport package on the xi. Regardless, my '07 335xi with the sport package came with the ContiProContact SSR RFTs. I have ~20,200 miles on the original tires, I've rotated them once front to back and they are all wearing evenly and probably have another 10,000 miles of life, at least. I don't do burnouts (difficult in the xi, thanks to the grip, in spite of the 300 hp & torque), skid to a stop or do excessively hi-G drifts. At brief bursts of speed of 80-100+ mph today on a smooth MA highway, the car was rock-solid and easily quiet enough to have a soft conversation. I've never had a flat and regularly check the air pressure, 33 in front, 36 in the rear.

For me, I wouldn't hesitate to replace them with another set when the time comes. I expect to drive them through at least one more New England winter with no issues.

Maybe I just got lucky with my tires, or perhaps I'm just more reasonable with my $50,000 worth of high end transportation?

I do have the sport pkg. and our driving styles seem to be about the same. Connecticut roads are where my driving takes place except for a coppla times a month drive to visit my daughter in Norwell, Ma. I have only hit 95mph with this car. I get 28 on the drive to Mass.

BMW 328 coupe rf tire by dong84

Hi all,

I leased BMW 328 coupe i on May 2009. Overall, the car is good, but lately I have concerned about rf tire. eventually, last night, there was "low pressure" sign. after checking each tire, I found one of front tire was 23, but should have been 32~35....

So, I went to a gas station to put air in the tire. Tonight again, "low pressure" sign again and checked the same tire again and pressure went down to 25 again...

Do I have to change the tire? my car only has 1500 miles on it. I cannot believe if I have to change the tire. Please let me know..

I have a couple of more questions regarding tf tire.

1) if I have to replace the tire, should I buy non-rf tire and replace with rf tire when my lease is up. I know I have to return the car with rf tire, but I dont think I can change tire regularly.

2) If I change with rf tire, where can I buy it? I searched on-line, but I just cannot find any store selling rf tire.

3) How much does it cost?

Thanks in advance.

I have the HTC--rear wheel drive only--you will hear no problems from me but I said before if you take corners fast there is a price to pay. That has always been true.

ie--my daugher and one of our family friends kids sons both got pontiac GPs at about the same time --the friends kids tires wore out much faster than our daughters tires and they complained to Pontiac about that--

I had no doubt that its how you drive--this is not a critisism its just the matter of more aggressive driving.

I have had a situation where my front tires became out of alignmnet and in short time the front tires wore out and fast fast. So I watch alignment and tire wear.

ya have to be honest with yourself.

2006 325i with ZSP -- I have about 17K Miles on my Bridgestone RE050As and they have around half their tread depth remaining. I toss my car around a bit, never switch stabilty control off, run 29 PSI front, 33 PSI rear as suggested in the owners' manual. I swap the tires for Bridgestone LM22 RFTs for about 4 winter months per year. The RE050As were getting noisier but I had the wheels aligned at the beginning of the season, and they now sound quite acceptable. Overall, they are grippy tires with rather lively, active handling.

TWO DAYS AGO I TOOK THE RUN FLAT TIRES OFF AT A GOODYEAR TIRE STORE AND RE-PLACED THEM WITH (4) P205/55R-16 LCR NEXEN N5000,
THE TOTAL BILL WAS $375.69 THATS TAX, SPEED BALANCE, NEW VALVE STEM, IT RUNS BEAUTIFUL BETTER THAN WHEN I PURCHASED IT, IT'S A 2007 328I. SO MUCH FOR ALL THESE TECHS SAYING YOU CAN'T CHANGE THEM, OH AND I RESET THE TIRE LIGHT AND I PUT OVER 450 MILES ON IT AND NO PROBLEMS.. GOODYEAR WOULD EVEN SELL ME A WARRANTY IF I WANTED.. SO GO CHANGE THEM GUY'S YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
