Replying to: buyer2008 (May 22, 2007 9:55 am) I own a 2008 6.4 superduty. I am getting around 7-10 miles per gallon. If I drive off road it is around 7 mpg on the highway around 10 mpg totally empty. When my trip monitor says I have zero miles to empty, I can only put 20 gallons of fuel in. I must still have 15 gallons in the tank. I had a 2002 Dodge 2500 with the 5.9 diesel before. That truck would outpull and outhaul this new 2008 and still get 18-23 mpg loaded. I am very dissapointed with this truck. I also feel that the brakes are spungy when I try to stop fast. I will probably be driving another truck in 2 months. I would not buy a 2008 6.4 diesel. We bought it as a tow vehicle but we like it so much we drive it everywhere. I am getting about 14 mpg highway city and as much as 20 on the road at 63 mph. Of course I am not towing anything. IF and I do mean IF I don't keep my foot out of the turbo, my mileage drops to about 8 or 9. But with diesel about 60 cents cheaper per gallon than regular my weight mileage is much better than my Suburban 454 at 10, 12 at the best. Ford got this one right (at least after 711 miles

If you have a 6.4 Diesel. Tell us whether its an F-250, F-350 or F-450.   The 2008 Super Duty has a GVW range from 8,800 lbs for a short box F-250 SRW Reg Cab to 14,500 lbs for a F-450 DRW Crew Cab.   Rear Diff ratios can be 3.73, 4.10, 4.30, or 4.88 on the F-450.   You can't assume that because someone is getting 6 mpg in an F-450 with a 4.88 rear that you will also get that mpg in an F-250 with only 60% of the GVW and a 3.73 rear.   Mark Replies to this message: djw07 (May 30, 2007 3:51 am)

Replying to: mschmal (May 29, 2007 11:17 am) My 6.4 R/S is a 08 F250 4x4 crewcab shortbed with 3.73 rear gears. Now with 5000 miles on the truck ,Im getting 14mpg around town. The only highway trip was towing my 27ft 7000# travel trailer and averaged 10mpg.

depending on whether you have the 3.73 or the 4.10 rear end, your MPG should be in the midteens to 18 mpgs when you break it in.   I recently dove a Navigator L with the 5.4 about 30 miles mixed highway and city and got 17 according to the computer. This was a new truck with the 6 speed trans and I was very conservative driving it.   IT is all about how you drive, and how fast you go.   The size of these vehicles exagerates the affect of hard acceleration and going over 65 mph vs. a car.   Mark.
