I dont mind the minor issues like the recalls and even the gas miliage from time to time But i dont need any problems with going back an forth with the dealer to get fixed. And problems that cant be found. I need asurance from somebody out there that has the 2008 f350 lariot that they love the truck and the powers great and all around dont have problems. or should i go with an older used model like the 2006 6.0 f350 with more miles. please help! this purchase going to happen soon. thanks

Replying to: sandman8 (Aug 01, 2009 11:32 pm) Now I use mine for part-time work, play, and daily driving.I take it in for the regularly scheduled maintenance, and recalls. If you perform maintenance regularly it won't be as problematic and less pron to breakdowns. This is my first diesel and test drove Chevy, and Dodge before setteling on Ford. If you look at some of the other forums you will see they all have their problems. I enjoy my F350 and would buy another. |

FORDZ1, I HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH YOU ON THE MAINTENANCE, I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TURBOS EARLY ON, AN NO FORD DEALER KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, SO, I KNEW THAT I HAD BETTER KEEP MY OIL CHANGED, FUEL FILTER CHANGED OFTEN, BECAUSE, I KNEW SOMETHING WASN`T RIGHT. HAVING, DEISELS BEFORE, THIS 6.4 WAS WAY OFF, AFTER THE RECALLS, I STILL HAD FLAMES COMING OUT OF THE TAIL PIPES, AT 56K, THE TURBOS BLEW OUT. I EXPLAINED TO FORD THAT AFTER MY OIL CHANGES, THERE WERE MORE OIL COMING OUT THAN WHAT WAS PUT IN, AN THAT THERE WAS FUEL LEAKING INTO THE OIL THEY DID NOT ADDRESS IT. DIESEL IS A CLEANING AGENT AS WE ALL KNOW, WELL, THAT CAUSED THE TURBOS TO BLOW. WHY IS BRAKE FLUID LEAKING ? THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE, EGR SENSORS, RADIATOR LEAKAGE, I`M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO EXPERIENCED SUCH PROBLEMS, WORK YOUR TRUCK A LITTLE HARDER AN YOU`LL SEE THAT ITS NOT CRACKED UP TO WHAT FORD SAY IT SHOULD DO, PAYING 50K AND 60K FOR TRUCKS TO PERFORM AS ADVERTISED. TRULY, THEIR HAVE BEEN A LOT OF DRIVERS WHO USE THESE TRUCKS FOR WORK, AN HAS HAD PROBLEMS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. THIS WAS MY SECOND TRUCK IN TWO YEARS THAT GAVE ME PROBLEMS, TWO DIFFERENT ENGINES, FORD SUCKS AND THEY WERE MAINTAINED REGULARLY. NO EXCUSES, FOR FORD DO NOT TO STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT!! AND THEN YOU HAVE TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY. I WAS LIKE YOU ONCE, FORD PROVED ME WRONG.

| I will look into it.. Today will be looking at the 2009 f350 lariot new at a different dealership. Just to see what they say.. I have already been to 4 dealers and 2 used dealers Im just about done. (And getting fustrated) I already test drove chevy 2500 2009 dont really like it. Maybe I can go another few years with my f150. | |

Well I finally had enough of the crap with my 08 6.4L I traded to a chevy. I had sworn I would never do it but I did. The only reason I have a chevy over a dodge was I got a better deal with the chevy. I don't like the styling or the interior as much but everything else is do much better I don't know if I will ever buy another ford after this. My wife always get a Lincoln Navigator and I don't even know if we are going to do that again we are looking at other options. My brother has already gotten rid of his F250 also since I am much happier with the chevy. Ford has lost an entire family's business from us. I would not suggest anyone getting one of the 6.4L EVER!

I have a 2008 F250 which I purchased July 08. Have not been really happy with the fuel mileage but have loved the truck overall, except that stupid regen cycle. Then in June I had it go into regen and I shut the truck down while it was in this mode. I went to start it 30 minutes later and nothing happened. I had it towed to a dealership and they replaced one of the sensors in the exhaust system which the dealer claims stops it from burning out the catalytic converter. All under warranty!! July 16th I take off with my goose neck horse trailer and 2 horses for vacation. I drive 65 miles and it goes into regen cycle again just as I start a 6 % grade. Mind you I have been able prior to this pull 7% grades with my trailer and horses without even losing any speed. This time I see the speed drop all the way down to 20 MPH and no turbo boost. I turn around and go to the nearest dealer, 40 miles away, and they look at it and claim it was low on engine coolant and the EGR overheated. They refill the coolant, less than a quart, and I'm on the road aging. I get back to the same hill and it goes back into regen mode and does exactly the same thing again. I figure screw it and go home to drop the trailer and horses off. I take it into the my local dealer and they have it for the weekend. They replace the back EGR valve on the up pipe on the exhaust. I take off on vacation again and things are better but not fixed. It now is going into regen cycle 4 times per fuel tank I can only get 30 pounds of turbo boost and I am loosing power on the hills I used to take at 65 MPH. My fuel mileage has dropped by 2 MPG and when it goes into regen cycle, mostly on the hills, I lose turbo boost back to 20 PSI. When I get to the top of the hills or finish acceleration, I get this horrible noise in my engine compartment by the transmission area. I have had it in the shop for a week and they claim that they can't find anything wrong. They said that the air filter was partially plugged and put in a new $100 one and say it is all fixed. I don't think so! They have a constant monitor computer connected to my dash and it is recording everything that is happening. We are taking the trailer and 3 horses for a ride on Thursday with someone from the dealership in the truck up the big hill outside of town so they can experience the same things we have had happen. Does anyone know what this problem is or have you heard similar before? I want my truck back the way it was but I think I'm getting smoke blown up you know where.
