thanks for the info guys i will be making my decision soon; esurance quotes me about 1000-1200 a year with a 500 dollar detuctible... maybe a little more than 100 a year for what i pay now; i had a problem with the head room when i drove the si; i am also 5'11'' my camry has a lot of headroom but hey its no si

Replying to: macydog (Jan 31, 2006 4:20 pm) I just picked up my Si 2006 yesterday, I'm older with an excellent record too and my insurance agent gave me the same price of $750.00 yearly. The only comment made by the agent was to aviod areas of high crime. No kidding .... Anyway,the car is an execellent buy for short money for someone like me going through a mid-life crisis.

Replying to: sigt1 (Jan 31, 2006 8:17 am) I bought my '06 Si Jan 3rd.. I'm 6' 2" and have no problem at all driving this car.. I love it!! My wife however is 22 and our insurance is outragious! For the Si it was over $800 for 6mths. But overall its worth the $$.

Just had a car declared total from them (stolen) and one my fault accident...involving a publicly owned Crown Vic with a lightbar.   When I move in a few months, it goes down to about $1150/year before multi car/homeowners discounts etc.

Hey guys - about a week ago I posted about considering getting a new car, between a new 06 si, or a impreza wrx.   I would be trading a 2000 Silverado Sport Truck - been offered $8900 trade in: WITH THE FOLLOWING MODS   2000 Chevrolet Silverado Stepside 4.8 Liter 5 Speed Manual --------------------------------------------------- This truck has 120,000 miles (I bought it at 24000)   K&N Cold Air induction system with a Granatelli MAF SENSOR GIBSON HEADERS with a cat-back flowmaster exhaust system. I am 23 years old.   My question is this - I have about 12K Cash saved - and my truck trade in offer today was $8940.   I'm looking at an 06 black SI NO NAV - for right at MSRP (19990) plus tax = $22k   OR   a 2004 WRX Impreza with 7800 miles for $20000 + TAX = 22500.   Is it being immature, and stupid to trade my nice custom, good running truck in now on a new (almost new) car, or should I invest a little money ($2k) and get my truck squeekless, smooth, and drive it for another few years until I can save more money to get an even nicer car?? OR should I just say goodbye to my reliable old beauty and get a new one??   I'm plannin on going to law school in 9 months. So thats a factor.   Picture of my truck HERE   I NEED SUGGESTIONS AND PRO/CONS   insurance on both the new cars would SKYROCKET to $2200 a year.   HELP ME!!! Hi, My wife just give me a SI for my bday, and we are paying $960 for the insurance, in addition to the two cars we owned, as for the car, it is the best car for fun after the mundane daily commute.

Replying to: dowright82 (Feb 01, 2006 7:38 pm) My advice would be to keep the truck and invest the money. When you're out of law school with no debt and pulling in a good salary, you should be able to have your choice of a lot of great new cars, with little impact on your finances.

One weighs about 90% more than the other and offers much more wind resistance. Would that be a significant concern to you in these days of $2.50 to $3.00 per gallon gasoline? Replying to: blane (Feb 02, 2006 4:27 am) Hey man,   If you drive alot, you'll save a fair amount of money on gas, so factor that in.   Your truck has a ridiculous amount of mods on it to "trade-in". Put the wheels/tires on ebay or something to sell, and put the old ones back on. Or, sell the car privately for like 11,000 (though it's gonna be hard to sell a 120,000 mile truck for that much).   As an 05 WRX owner I can say, without hesitation, don't do it. Pony up for the 06 WRX if you want to go that route. The SI is fantastic.   Most of all, I would say, don't pay cash for either car. Put a few thousand down, or just use your trade in, and finance the rest. In your situation, where you may need cash-on-hand, you don't want to tie up your resources ENTIRELY in a car.   Good luck...go test drive both, it should make the decision easier for you.
