With help from this forum and specifically KMICH71 on the price, I found my Smokey Granite Mica Lexus at Lexus of Woodfield on the lot. "You caught my manager at a weak moment" the salesman said. I know he had the car on the lot for about 2 weeks which at the rate they tell you they are fleeing the lots was fortunate for me. I started by calling my local dealer in Peoria who would only come $700 off MSRP. Then I called several others in Chicago including KMICH71's dealer who sold him the car for $36878. I asked for the same price and they agreed, but they didn't have it on the lot. They wanted $500 to locate one on deposit. I called Woodfield and they had one, matching the price at Westmont Lexus. I agreed since it was within a few hundred dollars of my original offer to all of them at $36450. List was $39,919. There is pricing power in the community of buyers. Thanks to everyone's contribution here and especially to KMICH71 who was the catalyst of fairly simple negotiation and a savings of over $3K under MSRP. I probably could have done a little better had I called a few more dealers or waited a couple more weeks, but you just never know. They had one on the lot. I pick it up Friday.

Just curious ineedanewcar, which dealership gave you the 33,791 offer? (That's the cheapest original offer I have heard of in this area, before I started actually shopping around offers and bargaining with the dealers. Thanks.)

Replying to: ccc61 (Apr 12, 2006 10:08 pm) Putnam gave me that starting offer (33,791). They were quite nice. They just didn't have the combination I wanted in stock. Where did you get the final offer from and which color combination did you get? Did you lease or buy?
