Thanks for the info, kydfx. I was assuming the same scenario. I'll stick with purchasing as I always have. Now If I could only find an IS350 Sport/Nav/ML . . .

I have been offered $37,980.00 ($40,164.00 OTD = includes TTL and 140 dealer doc fees) for a
2006 IS250AWD w/Nav, Mark Levinson, LUX pkg, park assist, headlamp washers,.
Of course the package would have to be ordered but the dealer said he can maybe get it in 4-6 weeks. They seem very cool about it and the price is amazing.

What does everyone think?approx +1700 over invoice

I called the dealership where I ordered my IS350 and told them of the deal I could get at Wilde. They said that deal was crazy and they weren't going to go below MSRP. I gave them the opportunity to match and they wouldn't move. SEE YA! Told them to tear up my deposit check and ordered the car through Wilde and saved $2500. As was posted before the internet salesman at Wilde was very competent and friendly. No hassles! Would recommend them. I figured out what the dealership that I originally oredered the car from stood to lose. They wouldn't give me the $2500 off, but now that I am not buying the car, they lost $2500 in profit over the invoice of the car. Knuckleheads.

It will cost between $1000 and $1300 to ship the car to Washington State.

Good Luck.

Tough Dealers? Here are some hints in dealing! by spyder52

Hello everyone, I've read many of your emails regarding frustrations in dealing with the so called "dealers" with poor customer service in non-competitive markets. I have seem folks getting upset too quickly, haven't think it through on strategies, and too willing to cave in. Any deal is possible but you must overcome these weak emotions.

Here are my thoughts:

First, you need to understand ANY deal is possible given the right time and place with the right sales person. Secondly, I would highly recommend you don't waste time with an idiot sales person or dealer, if your initial feeling is this is not a decent place to do business with. You will know this simply by observe how they treat you the minute you walk in the dealer. Are you respected or abused? If an idiot salesman talks like a jackass with clue why would you deal with him. Hint: WALK and get a different sales person. If the dealer is rotten, WALK, always have a back up plan and secondary choice of car on your list. Do not act like a wuss and drool all over the car, the larger you hang around the car they see you are completely under the spell, ask yourself why would they give a SUCKER a good price? No need, the car is pratically selling itself. Don't worry we all make this mistake.

This is what you do, get your finance in order, walk in, pick a car you like. Know your dealer invoice (true cost), forget all the BS, and decide WHAT YOU WANT TO PAY, not what the sales idiot trying to ask you to pay, remember NEVER trust a salesman he is out to making a killing. Simply write down the figure you want to pay give to the person who you feel respect you. Now, you are done! Ready to walk do not sit and wait, get your stuff get up be on your way. Do let them know here's the best offer, you are ready to make a move NOW. If they come back say NO, ask if he is sure, if they give you BS, ignore, and repeat your offer ask to speak to Sales Manager directly. Any decent dealer will immediately have a manager come over, if they refuse, this is NOT the dealer or the game you can handle. Do not play with the player, house always wins in this situation. Anyway, when a manager come over, repeat your offer, do not ask what they will offer, this gives away your desperation to buy and you won't get a good pricing at all. Let the sales manager tell you what's up, he is either going to tell you no, which is by the way dumbest move by turning down a profit on the table for the sake of pride. Or he may give a counter offer, if you get a counter offer, tell the dealer to leave you alone so you can review. Decide, go with your gut feeling also your research work. If their offer is nowhere near what you offered, WALK, decide later. The biggest mistake in business is making a quick decision, which is by the way what dealer love you to do. If you are unsure, WALK and then think about it. Go see other cars, take you mind of it for awhile.

Bottomline, deal with dealer tough but fair. Don't insult them, unless they give you in your face lies. In that case, make it clear you've been give BS you don't appreciated and tell that sales idiot you will not deal with him.

IS pricing will come down, it's a matter of time, it will happen sooner rather than later. Keep in mind today's economy will recovered from still weak, people don't just have free cash to throw away so make your dealer earn it.

Right now dealer is experiencing renewed interest on a newly designed car with positive review, production simply hasn't caught up, so few are on the lot, however, it will change soon as factories ramp up production. Once you see several local dealer have 20-30 IS on the lot they will try to move them. But forget about dealing when they have 4-5 IS on the lot and 10 pairs of young couples checking out the car every 5 minutes.

It's all about timing, your preparness to strike a deal, and your willing to deal hard but fair. Once you make dealer realize you are fair in what you offer, and they decline, it would be obvious to both parties that they simply don't want to deal. If they don't then punish them by your most powerful tool, MAKE THEM WAIT for your sale or tell them they are not flexible and they lost your business for GOOD.

In my mind, IS is worth at least 1k off base model and more off top model. This is NOT a limited production car, and simply isn't good enough of a car to justify MRSP. Very few car can get MRSP, mostly driven by hype than actual value. Mini is proably one of very few cars can demand MRSP.

I also recommend you cross shop BMW 3s, sometimes it's about who treat you the best. My local So Cal BMW dealer told me they would offer discount on 3s, I like their attitude even though I know 3s has been out awhile longer than the IS.

Hope this helps! YOu can always get the deal you want, if you REALLY want it. By cave in to dealer's BS is not the way to go.

Good Deals??? by nadiyah

Hello, I'm glad that I stumbled upon this forum as it is both interesting and informative.

My question, I recently got a quote from a local dealer here in Las Vegas for a IS350 w/Nav for $39,909. They want $3,500 down for a lease payment of $600 per month for 48 months? I think I can get a better deal, or does this sound reasonable? Anyone know of any dealerships dealing on the west coast?

I never quite understand how anyone can justify a deal like this. First, lease is NEVER a good deal, never, you can't afford the car, you are renting a luxury car at VREY high cost without ownership. YOu are better off buying it if you can afford it. To me if you can afford the lease terms you can probably buy it at same rates.

Your down payment of $3500 plus lease payment of $28800 over 48 months is $32300 total, that's a little less than the near $40K MRSP (assume it's MRSP).

Here's the kicker, milage limitation, penalty, NO ownership, plus a high residual value. You are probably looking at about 20K to buy it at the end.

Lease is horrible horrible deals for anyone who wants something now, you'd better offer get yourself a starbucks coffee instead.

To get the previliage of dricing a luxury car, you are willing to pay well over sticker pricing if you buy at the end or pay about 80% of price to drive 10K miles a year, so you can turn it in later instantly not have to deal with resale. Makes no sense!

If you buy a lexus you will have no problem selling it later. It will sell in a day!

If you can't afford a couple hundred more a month in payment to buy, then trust me you can't afford it. Not trying to offend anyone here, speaking strictly myself, I would be embrassed if I am driving something I can't afford.
