Several dealers are willing to match this, Longo said he would beat it ($30,500) and he has the red/cashmere combo I want. I called Westminster back but they still haven't gotten back to me.

Correct - not OTD. Even the carsdirect.com price is $30,571 now though (I just checked). SO methinks there's even more room to haggle if I had the time. I just don't know how much further they can go considering the edmunds invoice price.

Most dealers now just say "you gotta come on down" kind of thing. Westminster balked at my longo quote, and even that hasn't been confirmed through email. Since the prices all seem so close with no dealer willing to smash the $30K barrier (at least without taking me behind the woodshed on the trade-in I would guess), I may just go with the dealer closest to me so my service appointments are nice and smooth. Although I haven't tested too many with that figure yet, I doubt it'll go over well.

Thanks Fumanchu and Md Rocks
Very helpful info.
I bought a gs300 in 2000 at longo, the sales(big korean dude, was their fllet manager) later went to westminster but is no longer there anymore.
Anyway, I went in with the cardirect price thinking that will be my goal, he gave me $500 lower on the spot. But they didn't have the right color(silver), but one was on the way in 2 weeks. I picked up the car 2 weeks later and he knocked off another 500 on the spot for the wait.
My point is I think there is still room to work with under under the cardirect price.
Gosh, I wish I find that guy and then, I wouldn't have to work so hard now trying to get pricing

I have always had great experiences buying cars. You have to do it right. Negotiating when you have not selected a particular car that is right in front of you or one that they have in the correct configuration does not make any sense. Once you have the car then go for it. But you have to be ready to drive it away. This is the only way to get the best price. I hate to say it but I can see why the rude salespeople quote so high. Not to mention that sales people have no authority to authorize any price other than MSRP.
