I enjoyed reading your message!! I too owned a Cutlass Supreme convertible, a 1995 with the newer dash, black with graphite leather. Sold it at 153,000 miles still going strong!! So much for GM making junk that doesn't last. A friend bought it for his wife, so it may return to me some day once she's bored.

I see how the G6 HTC could replace that car for me, the only downer is size of the trunk. Even top down, the Cutlass had a big trunk. Top up - it was phenomenal. I guess that's the trade off from a soft to hard top.

G6 HTC PROBLEMS by bsuds

I FINALLY GOT MY CAR BACK JUNE 3RD. AS PREVIOUSLY POSTED, THIS WAS THE 3RD TIME IT WAS IN FOR THE TOP NOT COMING UP. SO FAR IT HAS BEEN WORKING, BUT WHAT WORRIES ME IS THAT THERE WERE ERRORS THAT SHOWED UP, THEY WENT THRU THE SYSTEM, CLEARED THE ERRORS BUT DIDN'T REPLACE OF FIX ANYTHING!!!!!!
HAD ALOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE DEALER. WAS TOLD 2 TIMES THAT GM WAS COMING TO LOOK AT THE CAR. AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR A WEEK, FOUND OUT, GM ONLY COMES ON THE 4TH TIME THE PROBLEM HAPPENS. DID CALL GM TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THEY CONTACTED THE DEALER BUT NOT MUCH MORE HELP.
I AM STILL NOT SURE ABOUT THE CAR. NOW I WILL HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR IN FOR THE RATTLES EVERYONE ELSE IS HAVING. FEELING A LITTLE BETTER ABOUT THE CAR, BUT STILL NOT 100% TRUSTING OF IT. EVERY TIME I PUT THE TOP DOWN, I WORRY. I AM TO THE POINT NOW, I MAY SELL THE CAR AT 3 YEARS WHEN THE WARRENTY RUNS OUT. I DIDN'T GET THE EXTENDED WARRENTY AND DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH REPAIR ON THAT TOP WOULD COST. GM WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE ME AN EXTENDED WARRENTY AT A DISCOUNT TO COVER THE TOP IF HAVE PROBLEMS AFTER 3 YEARS. I HAVE TO HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE CAR I DRIVE AND I HAVEN'T HAD THAT SINCE THE 1ST TIME THE TOP MALFUNCTIONED!!!

Sounds like you are having the same issues I did last summer - I lost a good month to problems with the top. Supposedly, it was wires near one of the hinges that were too long, get rubbing and eventually shorted out. No problems with that since - have someone check it out.

Why are we mostly hearing about the problems with this car? This is my 4th open-air car, and each one arrived with a couple of rattles, squeaks, and minor water leaks. With a cooperative dealer and bit of your own tinkering, all of the problems will soon be resolved. If this is your first convertible, whether it’s a soft-top or a HTC, then get used to the inherent complications and quirks of these cars. In the end, if you enjoy riding with the top down, it’s all worth it.

Sorry, but I disagree...

Any new car should not leak under regular conditions...PERIOD!

Yes, a drop-top is inherently louder and prone to developing rattles and squeaks, but it shouldn't be delivered that way.

My wife has an 05 Mini convertible with 36 K miles, and it doesn't leak now, nor has it ever. The top has no manual latches, and is a 1-button up-or-down maneuver.

So, I respectfully disagree that these problems should just be "accepted" as part of the deal...

New Tires at 200 miles by g6happy

I just bought a new 2007 G6 HTC (got a great deal vs 2008) and had some front end vibration at 65mph. Also when stepping on it at 50mph and above, steering was erratic at best. Dealers solution was to install four new tires as well as a new donut spare. Has anyone had similar problems? Front end vibration is much better but the tremendous torque on the steering wheel when stepping on it at high speed is still very noticeable.

Cracked Flywheel and Torque Converter by nurseprof

Hi. Hoping someone can shed some insight here. I have a 2007 G6 Convert. It is in the shop for the 3rd time with a cracked flywheel and torque converter. They have to drop the engine and split it in two each time this happens to get to the part. This last time they said, "the reason it was so loud this time is because it also broke a bolt in the engine." This is some scary stuff!! I'm now afraid of this car. Anyone else hear of this problem, or did I just get the proverbial "LEMON" vehicle?

I really don't know what to do about this, but I am afraid to take this vehicle back and drive it. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

You may have a lemon on your hands, and if you don't trust it anymore, call GM about some of your options. Sounds like a buyback or an exchange is in order. Something's wrong in the drivetrain if it repeatedly is cracking flywheels and bolts. I wouldn't trust it either. I suggest trying another convertible thru GM or your dealership and not giving up on the G6 convertible yet...

Our 2008 vert has been excellent so far...

G6 HTC Car Stereo Comments by hl12

I purchased a 2007 G6 HTC back in December. Awhile back I posted some comments about the bad sound coming from the so called upgraded Monsoon system. I didn't get much feedback at the time so now that it's many months later, I'll try again. The FM sound seems to be almost unlistenable due to a bad overbearing subwoofer system. The XM sound has an opposite problem.......seems kind of hollow and sometimes tinny. In addition, there is bad sound separation. I'm curious how some of you feel about the stereo system. I also would like to hear from someone who might have replaced their stereo with aftermarket components. I'm looking for some good suggestions.

Our Monsoon has been very good both playing CD's as well as XM.

I am a 40 year amateur musician and create my own music as well as listening to all genres , so I feel I am qualified.

It sounds like your speakers are possibly bad, it is hard to tell without hearing the sound. You will probably have a hard time getting relief. Music and sound are very subjective and there is no incentive for the dealer to fix it.

Our G6 vert has been a dream. No problems and an absolute joy to drive and own so far. We bought it in the summer of 2007.
